‘Out Of Darkness’
Earth. 45,000 years ago. There’s no shelter, no power, and … gasp … NO WIFI!! (I can already hear you screaming.) That’s the setting for Out Of Darkness, a new survival horror/thriller from director Andrew Cumming. The film follows a small band of paleolithic-era humans who have crossed violent seas and trudged across intimidatingly vast plains in search of fulfilling the base layer of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs: the purely physiological. (Self-actualization won’t really become a thing for, oh, another 44,900 years and change.) As you might imagine, though, it’s not all peaches and cream in this new land. Food is scarce, the climate is unforgiving, tensions in the group are running high, and SOMETHING seems to be stalking them at night. Is it an animal? Is it human? Is it supernatural? Out Of Darkness will keep you in rapt attention for the entirety of its 90 minute running time.
