The 49th season of Saturday Night Live began on Oct. 14, 2023 with former cast member Pete Davidson returning to host the premiere. The moment had been a long time coming, given that the show went dark during the writers strike, but when the work stoppage ended, SNL was quickly up and running.
The entire cast from season 48 returned, with Chloe Troast joining as a featured player.
