Gabriel Basso will return as Peter Sutherland in Netflix‘s The Night Agent for Season 2 on January 23. The 10 new episodes were shot primarily in New York City with additional filming done in Thailand and Washington D.C. Watch the teaser above.
By the time Season 2 premieres, fans will have been waiting nearly two years for new episodes. However, they can rejoice that the Sony Pictures Television series— created, showrun and executive produced by Shawn Ryan— was renewed for a third season early last month. As Deadline previously reported, shooting is set to begin on Season 3 in Istanbul at the end of this year followed by a New York shoot in 2025.
Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent‘s freshman season follows low-level FBI agent Peter Sutherland who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.

The Season 1 finale saw Peter take off from D.C. in a private jet on his first mission as a Night Action spy. Season 2 picks up as he’s shooting through the streets of an Asian city before he, fellow returning Season 1 cast member Luciane Buchanan, and new series regular Amanda Warren are seen against New York’s skyline in subsequent episodes.
Warren will portray Catherine Weaver, a veteran of the top-secret Night Action investigative program, who trains and oversees various Night Agents, including Peter. Smart, private and determined, Catherine is a fierce defender of her agents but finds it difficult to earn Peter’s trust when he struggles with betrayal issues from his experiences in Season 1.
In addition to Warren, the cast will feature new cast members Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Brittany Snow, and Teddy Sears.
Colon plays Solomon, a former Marine turned right-hand man/fixer for a powerful businessman; Herthum plays Jacob Monroe, an international businessman with powerful global connections that he uses to obtain valuable information; Mandi plays Noor, a low-level aide in the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York who is looking to leverage her access to top secret information into a better life for her and her family. Snow plays Alice, Peter’s partner and mentor in his first assignment in Night Action. Sears plays Warren, a high-level intelligence officer who becomes the subject of a Night Action investigation.
In past interviews, Ryan has spoken about how each season will be a self-contained story, opening the door to new plot lines and characters with each go-round.
Marwan Kenzari, Elise Kibler, and Dikran Tulaine will guest star in Season 2.
The series is created, showrun, and executive produced by Shawn Ryan through his MiddKid Productions banner. David Beaubaire, Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, Marney Hochman, Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, James Vanderbilt, Paul Bernard, and Munis Rashid also executive produce. The Night Agent is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
