Digitalisation and sustainability were two of the most prominent themes at #drupa2024. This is not surprising, as they fundamentally affect every aspect of our lives. But because printed products are ubiquitous in our lives, they also pose unique challenges to the printing industry. We caught up with Yarden Ben-Dor at the Landa Digital Printing stand to get his take on these two issues. #drupa2024 #PrintingIndustry #FutureOfIndustry #Sustainability #Digitalisation

The world's leading trade fair #drupa2024 was, of course, all about the future of the printing industry 🌍. That's why there were thousands and thousands of visitors from over 170 countries. But in addition to machines and software 🖨️, it is above all people and their ideas 💡 that are shaping the future. The next generation of printing. In cooperation with partners, vocational schools, universities, and academies, a number of initiatives were launched at drupa to get young people interested in the industry and give them a stage on which to present their projects. At the drupa Touchpoints Textile and Packaging, but also in other areas of the Campus, visitors could see the young talents work. Various awards 🏆 were also presented during drupa to honor particularly creative work. For example, to those trainees from the Fritz-Henßler-Berufskolleg who won the "Young Talent Award 2024" competition. But just as important - if not more so - than showcasing their work, drupa provided a platform for these young talents to expand their career networks 🤝. After all, even in the digital age, there's no substitute for real human interaction. Do you agree? 💬 (Fotos: Messe Düsseldorf / ctillmann) #drupa2024 #DNA #DrupaNextAge #PrintingTextile #Packaging #Innovation #CareerNetworking #YouthInPrint #touchpointpackaging #touchpointtextile

Poland's printing industry on the rise! 📈 Poland is not only the largest printing market in Eastern Europe, it's also a leader in print exports. Since joining the EU, the sector has experienced impressive growth. Today, Poland is also the world's fifth largest exporter of printed products. Key markets include Germany, Austria and France, while Polish books 📚 are particularly popular in Scandinavia and the UK. In 2022, the industry's exports accounted for around 1% of Poland's total exports. Since joining the EU 20 years ago in 2004, Poland has used EU support 🇪🇺 to invest heavily in modernising its printing industry. This growth has been driven by a strong entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability, even during challenging times such as the financial crisis of 2009. Polish printers are at the forefront of innovation, investing heavily in the latest technologies 🖨️ and exploring new approaches such as the 4-day week to increase productivity. However, the industry faces challenges such as rising energy costs and wage inflation, which are driving the need for further automation. Despite these hurdles, the Polish printing industry remains resilient and continues to grow. 🌍💪 #PrintingIndustry #Market #Poland

EU Packaging Directive: Printing Industry has solutions for Sustainability ♻️ The EU wants to tackle the growing amount of packaging waste and increase recycling rates. Combined with the general trend towards greater sustainability 🌍, this is having a major impact on packaging production, which packaging and printing companies will have to address. Companies throughout the supply chain will need to work much more closely together to comply 🤝. Many details of the directive are still unclear as consultations are still ongoing. Environmental aspects 🌱 will have to be balanced against other packaging criteria such as durability, safety, weight ⚖️, and environmental impact. What is certain is that many current practices will have to evolve to meet the expected requirements for recyclability and therefore recyclable design. At #drupa2024, many of these developments were addressed at both the touchpoint sustainability and the touchpoint packaging. Exhibitors showcased many innovative solutions 💡 and demonstrated that the printing industry is ready to meet the challenge by developing new materials and processes that will make a significant contribution to combining sustainability and packaging efficiency. #drupa #Sustainability #Packaging
