As a teenager, I became aware of him through my friend Katharina Loska ❤️ and immediately fell in love with the words and their power. When I saw Kafka hanging on the walls IN GERMAN in the city library in Chicago, I was deeply impressed. My love for this writer and his works is hard to put into words, but I tried. (See the podcast episode concerning the German-Czech pain: https://lnkd.in/gP6Rz3hA And that a book must be the ax for the frozen sea within us: https://lnkd.in/g43cct68 ) In this podcast episode I'll show you how you can survive in this Kafkaesque world without falling apart. Maybe you know the famous first sentence from Kafka's "The Trial": "Someone must have slandered Josef K., because without having done anything bad, he was arrested one morning." From my perspective, this sentence, the book and Kafka's entire work are more relevant than ever, because we live in the post-truth world, where everything is a question of perspective, framing, labeling and (un)conscious motives and interests that are not openly communicated, global as well as collective and individual. Opaque causal chains leave you more confused every day; the age of information is over, not least because of social media and artificial intelligence. Officially we live in a social constitutional state, but the reality is different. Officially there are laws and rules, but at the same time everyone does what they want and the executive, judiciary and legislative branches are increasingly reaching their limits. Democracy threatens itself from within, but in order to distract from this, enemy images are propagated outside. Do you see that, too? (This is neither good nor bad, just the way it is, because everything comes as it has to come) Josef K., Kafka's protagonist, naively relies on law and order and is disturbed to discover that slander has more power than reality. In my view, the tragic hero who innocently gets caught in the cobweb of justice and cannot find a way out is the person of today: victim of circumstances, victim of irrational decisions, victim of injustice, victim of fraud, manipulation and arbitrariness. That sounds very pessimistic, but anyone who knows me knows that I am an optimist. Reality is always a construct and when the outside world is a catastrophe, you have to make yourself even more comfortable and, above all, only concentrate on what you can influence 100 percent: your own mental attitude and your own energy. Basic Mindset: Power over Force! Expansion of consciousness beats cognition. Imagination beats knowledge. Life is mind blowing, but you won't need your mind much longer anyway.
