Accor has launched the Accor Global Leadership Council (GLC) together with travel managers and buyers from 17 international companies. The advisory committee aims to reshape the future of business travel and meetings by connecting business leaders from different industries and Accor executives. The committee's delegates include representatives from financial services, engineering, manufacturing, transportation, energy, professional services and technology.
The first meeting of the GLC took place in Paris earlier this month. Sophie Hulgard, Chief Sales Officer at Accor and host of the event, focused on various topics related to business travel and meetings: changing expectations of companies and travelers, personalization and loyalty in the B2B sector, the growing importance of sustainability, emerging travel trends, the role of sales and pricing, and a comprehensive analysis of Accor's Sofitel brand.
The committee's delegates, representing a total of over 2.7 million travelers, defined the top three priorities for business travel:
Traveler experience and well-being - including employee engagement, wellness, safety and digital efficiency.
Cost management and optimization - including compliance, pricing and cost reduction.
Sustainability - including concrete actions, carbon budgets and DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion).
"The dynamics of business travel are changing rapidly. It is imperative for our customers and the hospitality industry to adapt to new demands and priorities. The GLC is a critical forum where we share insights and develop solutions to meet the evolving needs of business travelers and delegates," Hulgard emphasized.
The GLC aims to generate valuable insights and actionable strategies to transform the business travel sector worldwide. Accor will summarize the committee's findings in a comprehensive report and publish it later in the year.
Karelle Lamouche, Chief Commercial Officer, Premium, Midscale & Economy Division at Accor, added: "Business travel is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by an increased focus on flexibility, sustainability and personalization. Business travelers today are looking for more than just efficiency and comfort. They value sustainability, personalized experiences and seamless technology integration. Accor is committed not only to meeting these needs, but to ensuring that every trip is as enriching and impactful as the destination and travel intent itself."
