We’ve taught our machines to see like human eyes, and it’s revolutionizing the recycling industry. 💡 How do you recognize if a packaging has been in contact with food? As a human being, you can use your eyes to look for context, as well as shape or size of the packaging. A pizza carton, for example, has a distinct and memorable design, making it easy for us to identify and sort it out of a waste stream. But to achieve efficient automation in recycling facilities, we need machines to do the same. That’s why we have trained our AI-powered technology GAINnext™, using millions of images, providing context to each of them. That’s the idea behind deep learning. With this ability, we can now automate sorting tasks that once required manual effort, enabling recyclers to process larger quantities of materials quickly and efficiently.
