Decentralized, non-pipeline-based supply will also continue to play an important role in the expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure. We are therefore working with partners in the “HYlight Cylinder” project to further optimize gas cylinders for storing and transporting hydrogen. The project aims to develop a high-pressure steel container that can withstand 500 bar instead of the usual 300 bar operating pressure. This enables a higher storage capacity with the same volume. The project will also investigate how the wall thickness of the container, and therefore the amount of material used, can be reduced without affecting its stability. At TITK e.V., under the project management of our esteemed colleague Dr. Michael Gladitz, the material science and process engineering foundations for polymer and hybrid material compositions as barrier layers are being laid and various strategies for improving adhesion and coating are being researched. Furthermore, the polymer layers are comprehensively characterized. The TITK is also responsible for the conceptual technology transfer of planar steel surfaces with different base layer structures to surfaces inside steel cylinder bottles and the proof of the reduction of steel embrittlement by H2. 🤝Our project partners: eurocylinder systems AG | Galvanotechnik Jens Holzapfel GmbH | Kersten coating technology | Fraunhofer IKTS 💶 Funding: The project, which was funded by the Free State of Thuringia, was co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). #hydrogen #energy #gas #cylinder

International research partnership between TITK e.V. and CITEVE: Working together for a sustainable and circular textile ecosystem TITK and CITEVE, two leading research institutes in the field of textiles, are working closely together to support the objectives of the EU Textile Strategy. As part of the planned #DICE project in #Rudolstadt, we are researching innovative recycling solutions to make textiles more durable, recyclable and free from hazardous substances. Together, we are driving the transformation towards a competitive, resilient and sustainable textile industry.
Our valued colleagues Werner Kordel / smartpolymer GmbH and Dr. Wendler Frank / TITK e.V. were warmly welcomed by Cristina Castro, Catarina Guise, Carla Joana Silva from CITEVE - Technological Centre for the Textile and Clothing Industry of Portugal in Famalicão / Portugal. There are a lot of interfaces that predestine a close cooperation between CITEVE and the TITK Group. The CITEVE is very intensively involved in R&D on fibers, textile technology and the development of measurement techniques for fibers and textiles. In addition to synthetic fibers, natural fibers such as hemp, banana or thistle and their use in yarns and nonwovens play a major role. The processing and recycling of used textiles is another subject of interest. The functionalization of fibres, the development of personal protective clothing and the development of prototypes in small series production are further fields of activity. The broad metrological orientation with ultra-modern technical equipment enables the function as a reference institute, comparable to the Hohenstein Institutes in Germany and being the reference institute in Portugal for OEKO-TEX® certification. Much effort is invested in the training of textile engineers. Interfaces for this international research cooperation with the @TITK arise not only in the development of functional Lyocell fibers, product testing, e.g. the moisture management of thermo-regulating clothing using sensor-equipped mannequins, but also in fiber-to-fiber recycling in the field of clothing and technical textiles at the Demonstration and Innovation Center for Textile Circular Economy (DICE) currently being established at the TITK. #DICE #circulareconomy #textiletechnology #research #development #cooperation #fiberrecycling Deutsche Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft Konrad Zuse e.V. 🐶 “Life without a pug is possible, but pointless.” 🐶 What the unforgotten #Loriot once said applies not only to #dogs but also to all other #animal #companions that make our limited time so much more precious. 💓 At some point, however, we have to say goodbye to them - often an emotional state of emergency for the whole family. It helps to have a service provider at your side who acts with dignity and empathy. ROSENGARTEN GmbH - the market leader for pet funerals in #Germany - has made this its mission. 🌈 We are delighted that the company benefits from our expertise and is now using our award-winning bio hot-melt adhesive #Caremelt® to improve burials in terms of nature conservation and environmental protection. You can find out on our website which role our Bio-based and biodegradable adhesive plays in this and how we came together: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eKcy8squ #research #development #innovations #adhesives #hotmelt #biobased #biodegradable #sustainability #thuringia #biopolymers Deutsche Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft Konrad Zuse e.V. 🏁 🚦 🏎️ Well cooled off into a hot Formula Student season 2024: We are very happy to continue supporting the WHZ Racing Team of the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences (Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau). Like many other university teams around the world, this extremely creative and highly ambitious student design collective takes on the exciting challenge of building a compact, open-top racing car from scratch every year. As the current world number one (!) in the electric class, the team from Zwickau recently presented their latest family member for this year's season - the FP16.24e “Eckhard”. With the rollout of “#Eckhard”, the WHZ Racing Team is once again putting a TITK development into practice: Plastic panels with so-called Phase Change Material (#PCM) are used in the electric vehicle to avoid temperature peaks. PCM is able to store thermal energy. In addition, a melting point can be precisely specified for the material. TITK's PCM can be used to cool batteries passively and efficiently. This is another example of the practical transfer of our research results. The energy storage material can be used not only for thermal management in next-generation vehicles, but also for the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods - whether hot or cold. Let's look forward to the upcoming racing events in the 2024 season with the WHZ racing team! 🏆 "Eckhard" will be competing at three events: ➡️ July 21-25 in #Spielberg (#Austria) ➡️ August 5-10 in #Most (Czech Republic) ➡️ September 4-8 in Varano de' Melegari (#Italy) Formula Student Germany | Formula Student Austria | Formula Student Czech Republic Deutsche Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft Konrad Zuse e.V.
