𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗔𝗜𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝟲𝗚 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 🚀 Last week, I had the pleasure of presenting SmartAIs at the Thinknet 6G Summit, showcasing our solution with a deep-dive into our technology. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟲𝗚 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗔𝗜𝘀? 🤔 At SmartAIs, we aim to guide blind people safely to their destinations. 6G offers us some exciting opportunities, including: 📍 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Crucial for navigation and obstacle avoidance, making it easier to guide users safely. ⚡ 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: This will enable us to add more powerful algorithms and AI models, that need to run in the cloud. In the future, this will help us build a multi-functional digital assistant for many challenges faced by blind people, not just obstacle avoidance and navigation. 📡 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: The most exciting for me, this technology allows devices to use the same signals for both communication and sensing their surroundings. Essentially, as a blind person, your phone can stay in your pocket, and we can still detect obstacles without relying on the camera, I can hardly believe it! ✨ What an insightful interview with Prof. Gerhard Fettweis and Dr. Alexander Duisberg. It was great to meet other innovative startups and share the stage to present our innovations, including: Olive Robotics, SynthesEyes, fünfeinhalb, EcoLogic Computing, and RadALp. A huge thank you to Bayern Innovativ GmbH, TUM Venture Labs, 6G-life, Kimberley Parsons (Trommler), and Anna Efa for the support! 🙏 The future is exciting, and we are committed to leveraging the newest technologies to help blind people. 🌍💡 Photo credits: Bayern Innovativ GmbH, Ivonne Wagner 📸 #thinknet6G #6G #6GforGood #SmartAIs #Assistive6GTech #Innovation

🤔 Does SmartAIs belong in a museum? 🤔 Definately yes! Because innovation is also a form of art and therefore we feel in good company in a museum. 😋 Jokes aside - We are always eager to raise awareness about the incredible advancements happening for the blind community. That’s why we’re excited to accept the invitation from Deutsches Museum and Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst to showcase our solution during the #LangeNachtderMuseen on Saturday, October 19th, where visitors can learn more about innovative startups while enjoying the museum exhibitions. Both museums prioritize accessibility, and we were delighted to learn that the Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst has a special room dedicated to blind and visually impaired visitors to experience Egyptian art. We absolutely love this initiative! At the Deutsches Museum, we’ll dive deep on demonstrating our innovativative technology and you can try our solution in a computer simulation. Meet Yamen Mohisn there! And if you dare: At the Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst, you can try out our solution firsthand by navigating an obstacle course blindfolded with our app. Anika Watzka, Said Derbel and Sascha Preget will be assisting you! Drop by, enjoy the exhibitions, and learn more about SmartAIs. We look forward to meeting you! 🗓️ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻? October 19th, 𝟲 𝗣𝗠 - 𝟭 𝗔𝗠 📍 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? Disclaimer: No team members were hurt during the recording of the video. Or were they? After screening the footage we are actually not sure. 🤕 The following question made us accept some bruises while hitting obstacles on sidewalks: How exactly does it feel to be a blind person navigating the sidewalks? 🦯 Sure, talking to those affected or going for a walk with them is essential to understand their challenges. But sometimes, it’s also insightful to put ourselves in their shoes, put on a blindfold, and experience the sidewalks with a cane. That’s exactly what we did last week, and here are the problems we struggled with the most: 🚧 Construction sites blocking the sidewalk 🔄 Navigating bends or turns 🛑 Complex situations with multiple obstacles 🚲 Chains of bicycles on the sidewalk's edge 👥 Crowds of people And to be honest - some of the situations we show in the video are super difficult to solve. We’re working hard to see which of these challenges we can solve with our new prototype in development! Stay tuned for more updates. 🚀 [Video alt text for accessibility] Filmed from a first-person perspective, a person with a white cane walks along sidewalks. In short sequences, the person bumps into benches, e-scooters, construction sites, motorcycles, stairs, and bicycles. #SmartAIs #Innovation #Accessibility #BlindNavigation #TechForGood #PrototypeDevelopment #InclusiveTech #ObstacleAvoidance

Happy White Cane Day! 🎉 Today, we celebrate the white cane and its incredible role in empowering people who are blind or visually impaired. The cane helps users: 1️⃣ Detect obstacles like bicycles and poles. 2️⃣ Follow guiding lines in public spaces. 3️⃣ Orient themselves through the sound of tapping, which echoes off walls. 4️⃣ Feel surface changes like grass, pavement, or gravel. However, there are some downsides of the white cane: ⚠️ It only detects obstacles below waist level and can miss thin objects like poles. ⚠️ It doesn’t guide users on how to avoid obstacles. ⚠️ Navigating crowded or complex areas can still be difficult. We aim to solve these challenges with our obstacle avoidance app, which can be used alongside the white cane to detect and avoid obstacles more effectively! #WhiteCaneDay #Independence #BlindnessAwareness #Inclusion #Accessibility #TechForGood
