A short story about #physicalAI 🤖 - Many people believe they know AI. Few people actually understand AI. And even fewer people push the AI boundary upwards...We are the latter. Over one year ago we have been heavily discussing how to define ourselves in less than 5 words? #Laundries? – no, this is just one of our verticals – various industries like automotive, fashion production, food processing, which benefit from applying sewts' technology in their processes. #Robotics? That's our middle name. We not only build robots, we enable them. #AI? We are not your regular everyday smart fridge company that uses AI to order new food when your fridge is empty. We build AI, we shape AI, we wield AI. #Software Development? Yes, but also too one dimensional - Our software is not one, not two or even three dimensional. We develop multi-dimensional framework fusing state-of-the-art algorithms with new proprietary algorithms to achieve ever so higher performance. With the help of Michal Natora we coined the term Physical AI to describe what we believe will be the next revolution in AI. We are transferring AI into physical, real world applications and therefore build the interaction between automation solutions and the brain behind. Physical AI for us means we are the eyes, the brain and the fingers… You can’t imagine how controverse this new discipline was discussed internally. What should that mean? It’s just another buzzword. Is physical really the right label? Nearly no literature was available back than. If you check your LinkedIn feed these days the term became omnipresent and even the big guys like Jensen Huang from NVIDIA or #forbes started using the term. To us, this means a lot. It's a strong confirmation of being on the right track and more so that we have seen this topic before everyone talked about it. We founded a company for a market which was not existing. Last week Alexander and Katharina had the chance to visit D.C. talking about the role of sewts in an ever-growing robotic landscape. Currently, the big players are all starting from scratch building their own robots, little bit more human like looking, little cheaper, little more fingers, bit faster- but who is taking care of teaching the skills? Emptying the dishwasher is still easy in comparison to folding a T.Shirt. Last week our co-founder Alexander Bley was back on stage. At Ludwig-Erhard-Gipfel | Tegernsee Summit - Alex had the honour to talk about our vision of disrupting the automation landscape by implementing #physicalAI. We strongly believe that a shift towards a more generic approach in robotics is highly needed. We need to stop case-by-case solutions. Whereas at the same time we need to ensure fast learning algorithms to train new tasks in the shortest possible time. This means less hardware: a brain, eyes and grippers with human like perception skills to handle any kind of deformable materials in a cost efficient way.
