This summer, all eyes were on Paris for the 2024 Olympics, but for us at RWE, there are plenty more reasons to keep an eye on France. It is a country with great conditions for renewable energy production and therefore a market in which we have great aspirations. Having entered the French market in 2020, we are now among the leading developers and producers of renewable energy there. In fact, we have commissioned about 180 megawatts of renewable capacity in the last three years alone. And our development pipeline is filled with a lot of more projects, this includes not just onshore wind, where we are currently developing a series of solar projects. Our growth path has been fuelled by our ambitions and made possible by our amazing French #TeamRWE – now consisting of 270 employees. 🌍 RWE Wins Key Contracts for Difference (CfD) in Latest Allocation Round 6! 🌍 We are excited to announce that RWE has secured Contracts for Difference (CfD) for five of its renewable energy projects in Allocation Round 6 (AR6), awarded by the Low Carbon Contracts Company on behalf of the UK Government. The CfD awards include two onshore wind and three solar PV projects; together, they represent over 218 MW of new UK renewable electricity generation capacity, capable of powering just under 200,000 homes, supporting local supply chains and jobs, and contributing to the UK’s clean energy future and energy security goals. RWE has an ambition to invest up to €8 billion net from 2024 to 2030 in the UK. This year alone, we’ve made significant progress with the construction of the 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, three onshore wind farms in Scotland, and seven large-scale solar PV projects in England, of which three are co-located with batteries. For the second year in a row, we brought together around 150 graduates from across the world for an annual groupwide Graduate Offsite, an inspiring three-day event in Essen.     The first day kicked off with an energetic “speed dating”-style session, allowing participants to quickly connect and share ideas. The day ended on a creative note with a team-based art project, resulting in a large, collaboratively painted canvas. This artwork is currently on display on the Essen Campus, before its final installation at Pembroke Power Station, where it will be showcased indefinitely!    Your energy has impact. Use it for good. 🌊 RWE Marks Major Milestone in Offshore Wind with Installation of HVDC Offshore Converter Platform at Sofia Wind Farm! 🌊 We are thrilled to announce a key achievement at our Sofia Offshore Wind Farm with the successful installation of the Offshore Converter Platform (OCP)—our first deployment of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology. 🚢 The installation, the largest lift in offshore wind history, is a testament to the incredible collaboration between RWE and its partners GE Vernova, and Seatrium. This cutting-edge technology will enable efficient transmission of the wind farm's electrical output across a 220km cable route to shore.   💡 Sofia, RWE’s largest offshore wind project under construction in UK waters, will have a total capacity of 1.4 GW—enough to power approximately 1.2 million UK homes. Once fully operational in 2026, it will be a significant driver of the UK's renewable energy transition.
