🚀 Yesterday we wrapped up an incredible experience at the Usability Testessen Berlin event, where I brought the Recovery Cat to test some key assumptions and tackle our biggest concerns. The journey kicked off with an engaging briefing session, introducing us to various usability testing methods (check out the first picture for a sneak peek!). This session's theme was digital health, making it even more pertinent and thrilling for me as a Digital Health student. 🌟 A massive thank you to the brilliant organizers for orchestrating such a valuable event Xenia Latii, Stephan Matzdorf, Vinicius Delgado & Ilona Kozenkovaite. Kudos to adesso SE’s Katharina Bihn, Theresa Jordan & colleagues for hosting us in their phenomenal space—it truly elevated the entire experience. It was wonderful chatting to all of you. 🙏 I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the fantastic diverse testers including my colleague Lisa Geist. Everyone’s insights were gold and have given me a fresh perspective on our product's usability. ✨ This was a remarkable learning journey, and I can't wait to participate again! #UsabilityTestessen #UsabilityTesting #DigitalHealth #UserExperience

To Alissa Maresa Rohrbach (she/her), thank you for reaching out to me on LinkedIn and sparking the initial connection that led me to this incredible opportunity working on such a meaningful product. Andreas Pittrich, your recognition of my future potential while I was still being a total coding n00b means a whole lot to me. Thank you for believing in my abilities and providing me with your guidance to flourish as a developer. A heartfelt shoutout to the Le Wagon, particularly the 813 batch managers Olivier Girardot and Sebastian Remm, for providing the foundation and guidance during my formative months in the tech industry. My 'Culture Shot' team, including Jinsheng, Bárbara Nassar, and Malvina Smaqi, as well as project angel Dareos, your collaboration and mentorship have been invaluable throughout this journey. "My father was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, so I knew the disease since I was a child and I was very afraid it could happen to me as well. When I was 23, I recognized some of the early warning signs myself and visited an early recognition center, but they only diagnosed a slight depression. I was diagnosed with psychosis after one year, and with schizophrenia one year later. It was dramatic: many things happened, and I completely lost control. My first time in a clinic, I was very afraid. I had bad examples from my father in the 80s: he was treated with a lot of force and no communication at all, he was always traumatised by that. The second time, there were a lot of interns who took the time to see what was going on or just prepare a salad with you or play with a therapy dog – it was really helpful. But the third time, it wasn’t: they just put me on a lot of medication and didn’t want to hear anything from me. When the third episode happened, that was very dramatic. I got lost on a holiday in Italy, it was really dangerous. After the third episode and trying many kinds of neuroleptics, I switched to a new treatment, and I had the fourth and last crisis in 2013. In the acute phase, there were delusions, loss of clear thinking and the ability to have a normal life. I tried a few times to get rid of the medication and I noticed I had the energy to eat better, to feel more joy, to be motivated and do more things. But as I want to be stable, it’s always a balance between stability and quality of life: I feel that it’s really hard to distinguish between the side effects of medications and negative symptoms. Feeling depressed, unable to clean my apartment, do things, be motivated, do sport: these symptoms are much more important than delusions, that’s most of my life. My friends were very helpful and supportive: they managed to keep me away from the hospital. I did cognitive behavioural therapy for a few years, and have been stable for 10 years now and I’m now doing depth psychology. I’m still on a very low dose of medication and I want to get rid of the medication completely in a few years." Many thanks to the European Brain Council for the possibility to share my lived experience. You can find more stories from people living with schizophrenia here and learn more about how and why we can and need to make a difference in the way we manage schizophrenia. ➡️ https://bit.ly/3VEsMd2 #BeyondTheVoices
