Kicking off Quantum Effects yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in an insightful BREAKFAST TALK with industry and political leaders. Our focus? How we can drive sustainable innovation right here in #TheLänd and why Quantum Effects serves as such a powerful platform to spark and scale these transformative ideas.  🌱💡 #Quantum and #AI are the tools of our time, essential for overcoming the challenges ahead. Our original mission was clear: to make the planet greener with these technologies. 🌍 But with the current trajectory of AI and #NextGenerationComputing, we are heading in the opposite direction. If we continue scaling with the technologies we have today, we risk burning through the planet faster than we can innovate. 🔥 We need new approaches - and no, placing data centers in the sea 🌊 or building nuclear plants next to them ⚛️ isn’t my vision of innovation. What we need is a fundamental rethink. And this shift is happening right here at #QuantumEffects, where deep tech innovators, thinkers, and doers meet. We have the chance to shape ecosystems that can solve the AI crisis sustainably. 💡🤝 But it will take more than just one company to make this happen. Here in Baden-Württemberg, we’re working to build a seedbed for a new technological revolution, powered by #PhotonicComputing. It’s about starting small, fostering innovation, and scaling it into something truly transformative. 🚀 To do this, I believe we need three things: 1. Pride: Be proud of The Länd. Don’t hide behind past successes. BW is home to world-class companies that have shaped industries. 🏆 Let’s carry our pioneering spirit into the world of Deep Tech, or we’ll be asking companies like NVIDIA for permission to play in the future. 🔧➡️💻 2. Investment: Capital must flow. 💰 We need greater access to funding if we’re to realize our ambitions. Look at **Aleph Alpha** - a company that could have rivaled OpenAI. They had the talent, but when OpenAI gets $10 billion and Aleph Alpha just $500 million under strict conditions, we lose the competitive edge before we even start. 3. Action: It’s time to act first and apologize later. 💪 When we launched our first prototype of our quantum sensor in the U.S., customers didn’t hesitate - they tested it, learned from it, and developed applications. Meanwhile, in Germany, we spent two years waiting for approval. Those two years gave our U.S. customers a lead that we may never recover. ⚡ We are great at everything tangible - regulation, compliance, safety. But digital works differently. We need to innovate in R&D much earlier, before regulation slows us down. Let’s prove the value to customers, and then talk about compliance. 🔍🔗 This is how we spark innovation that scales from Baden-Wuerttemberg to the world. 🌍

🌟 Q.ANTies shift the boundaries of physics! Congratulations, Alexander Mikhaylov! 🎉Alexander has been recognized by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with the Accolades for Technical Excellence MML 2024 for his contribution to the work on entangled two-photon absorption  for “refuting published claims about quantum-enhanced microscopy” that led to a 2023 US Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award.   As part of the team around Michael Mazurek, Daniel Lum and Kristen Parzuchowski, Alexander, played a crucial role in conducting experiments to investigate two-photon absorption using entangled photons. They challenged previous findings and set new, more precise bounds on entangled two-photon absorption cross sections in common fluorophores. Their findings have been published in #PhysicalReviewApplied here https://lnkd.in/e36vdMr and in #TheJournalofPhysicalChemistryLetters here: https://lnkd.in/eE4FDt-E having sparked ongoing discussions and further research in the field. Your dedication to scientific rigor and collaborative spirit make us proud, Alexander! 🔬👏 #NISTAward #QANT #ScientificExcellence #Team

Illuminating AI's Future: Our Native Processor Debuts in the Cloud 🚀💡 Today, I'm proud to unveil a glimpse into the future of computing - our groundbreaking Native Processing Unit (NPU), with a photonic chip inside, performs the first cloud application of its kind for real-world AI inference. This demo marks a significant step towards a more energy-efficient AI landscape. Ready to see the future of AI computing in action? Click here to see our native computing system demo: https://native.qant.com/ At Q.ANT, we've always believed that true innovations in computing require a fundamentally new way of thinking. This new processor is the culmination of years of research, passion, and relentless commitment from the whole Q.ANTTeam. Every detail, from cutting-edge algorithms to new materials, has been engineered to deliver unmatched efficiency. This innovation couldn't be more timely, as recent projections paint a stark picture of AI's escalating energy demands (sources in comments): Goldman Sachs Research estimates data center power demand will surge 160% by 2030, potentially consuming 3-4% of global electricity. The International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts global data center electricity demand to more than double between 2022 and 2026. And researchers from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) predict that by 2027, AI could consume as much energy globally as the entire Netherlands does today. Our showcase system isn't just a lab experiment - it's a real-world application that demonstrates the potential of photonic computing. It allows users to select an image of a handwritten number, and the NPU predicts the digit using a trained neural network, all powered by light. While this is the first system of its kind, this technology is no longer a dream - it's here, working, and accessible. We offer a unique opportunity to witness and test this innovative system firsthand. Thanks to all QANTies for making this possible! 💫 For us, this is not just a processor—it's a statement of intent. It’s proof that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand. Join us in exploring this new era of #nativecomputing. ✨ First steps towards space 🚀 and 2027 in focus for the launch! We shipped the first prototype of the #QYRO unit to DLR Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. for performance testing of the hard- and software. QYRO is an atomic gyroscope for the attitude control of cubesats, which will in future form a satellite network in lower orbit for world-wide internet connectivity. Leading the project, Q.ANT has been responsible for unit design, integration, and testing - and has delivered this prototype as first milestone after 2 years of development in time and scope. The project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is a huge effort of all collaboration partners, including the DLR Galileo Kompetenzzentrum (GK) for all space-related aspects, Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik, TRUMPF TLB & TPC for VCSELS and laser diodes as well as Bosch for the vapor cell and the magnetic shielding - a big THANK YOU to all involved! DLR will now connect and test the atomic gyroscope with the FlatSat for an electrical test campaign and a functional test campaign to follow, with a performance test scheduled for the end of this month. Reliable transmission of satellite communication signals can only be achieved by constantly maintaining high-precision attitude control of satellites in their orbit. If a satellite moves out of position, the signals get weaker. The gyroscope is developed to permanently enhance measurement stability. The sensors, based on quantum technologies, are particularly suitable for deployment in satellites thanks to their ability to provide reliably accurate measurement results and excellent performance in a compact, low-weight package. This solution can keep satellites correctly oriented in space over a period of years. #innovation #sensortechnology #teamwork #sensors #space #satellite
