In this study, we investigated the pyrolysis of octylamine-modified molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) - an approach designed to improve the electrochemical performance of cathode materials. 🤓 Key highlights include: 👉 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀: By coupling TG-MS and TG-FT-IR, we were able to precisely monitor the evolution of gaseous products during the pyrolysis, revealing significant structural transitions. 👉 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀: The introduction of octylamine provided a carbon source in close proximity to MoO3, which promoted improved electron conduction - critical for next-generation battery performance. 👉 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: We observed that pyrolysis led to in the formation of elemental carbon and the reduction of MoO3, ultimately improving the material's performance as a battery cathode. 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘂𝗺-𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 are widely used in various industrial and consumer applications due to their high energy density, long life cycle, and relatively low self-discharge. 🔋 One key point is the 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 used in these devices regarding their safety. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Simultaneous Thermal Analysis (STA) are ideal methods for investigating the thermal properties of differently charged electrode materials! 🔬💡 The study, recently published in the Wiley Online Library, describes a significant relationship between the state of charge (SOC) and the power released by the electrode material during the heating process.
