In our series People at IPS, we are thrilled to introduce you to the remarkable members and their roles in our #TeamIPS. Today, meet Leona Köhler, our Lead Engineer in the US. After gaining valuable experience in Germany as a business analyst and test manager, Leona wanted to explore living and working in the USA. Thanks to IPS’s international projects, she had the opportunity to do just that. After a brief training period in Dortmund, Leona relocated to the US, where she now supports our team as Lead Engineer. In this role, she serves as a bridge between project management and software development, ensuring our software is tailored to meet specific customer requirements. One of the most impactful moments in her IPS journey so far was her first Go-Live at the Sint Maarten airport, where she collaborated closely with the client and the IPS team. Exciting news! Materna IPS Americas will provide our hybrid Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) systems for the new Terminal 6 at JFK International Airport, opening in 2026. This installation is part of JFK's $19 billion redevelopment and represents one of the largest SSBD deployments in the US. Our Flex.Go hybrid bag drop system will streamline the check-in process, allowing passengers to verify their ID, drop their bags, and leave in less than 30 seconds. The system offers both self-service and agent-assisted options to accommodate all travelers. We thank JFK Millennium Partners and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for their partnership. Up next, let’s get to know Noah Bauhaus, our apprentice in the QA department. Noah started his apprenticeship as an IT specialist for system integration at Materna IPS a year ago, with his main responsibility being the testing of new products before they are released. He knew early on that he wanted to pursue a career in the IT sector in an exciting industry after leaving school. Materna IPS immediately convinced him with its international environment and the resulting variety of tasks. He particularly remembers his assignment at Berlin Airport, where he experienced the results of his work in real life and received direct feedback from passengers.
