A record number of cases were filed to the UK National Fraud Database (NFD) in the first six months of 2024 – over 214,000 in total, representing a 15% increase 📈 compared to the same period in 2023, UK fraud prevention service, Cifas, revealed recently. The data, recorded between January-June 2024, also reveals the most popular tactics favoured by fraudsters: ⚠ Spoofing ⚠ Brand impersonations ⚠ Phishing campaigns ⚠ Using AI technologies to facilitate data harvesting and social engineering. Well, the time has finally arrived. 🕛 Today marks the first day in a six month pilot where UK gamblers will be subjected to the controversial financial risk assessments. ✅ To help ease players into the concept of financial risk checks, they will initially only be triggered for players with a net deposit of more than £500, before being reduced to £150 per month from February 28, 2025 onwards.
