Imagine waking up every day in a sustainable, eco-friendly floating city on the sea—sounds like a plot from a sci-fi movie, right? Well, Oceanix is turning that vision into reality right off the coast of Busan, South Korea! This groundbreaking project isn’t just about innovation; it’s about solving one of the most pressing challenges faced by coastal cities worldwide: land scarcity, exacerbated by the ever-looming threats of climate change. With 40% of the global population living within 100 kilometers of a coastline, and a staggering 90% of mega cities threatend by rising sea levels, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Flooding isn’t just a concern; it’s a potential catastrophe for both, lives and infrastructure. Enter Busan, South Korea’s vibrant second-largest city, home to 3.5 million people, where these issues are more than just headlines—they’re a daily reality. But Busan is fighting back with a bold vision: floating platforms designed to withstand the challenges of rising waters and intense storms. Oceanix Busan will be a marvel—a 6.3-hectare interconnected floating neighborhood, ready to welcome 12,000 residents by 2025. Each zone within this futuristic city will have a unique purpose, from residential living to cutting-edge research, with 30,000 to 40,000 square meters set aside for dynamic, mixed-use spaces. The future of urban living might just be on the water. So, what do you think—could you see yourself thriving in this floating city of tomorrow?
