Meeting Hannover Re.   Yesterday, our members of the Executive Board took the time to meet with analysts and investors in London. 🇬🇧   The format of this year’s event was changed to a more informal one. It was all about open dialogue and discussion. We started the afternoon with sessions on Group topics and ended with our two reinsurance business groups Property & Casualty and Life & Health.   To round off the day, we had the opportunity to dine in the historic and unique White Tower of the Tower of London.   Many thanks to all our participants – our exchange is invaluable.

Earlier this month, Tim Smith, Luke Spiers, Morten Tiedemann, Cord-Roland Rinke, Oisin Morgan, and Christine Dahlke represented Hannover Re as sponsors of the ReDirect 2024 conference in London. The event offered a valuable opportunity to engage with key industry players in the European life insurance market and to explore the evolving landscape of reinsurance and longevity risk management. Discussions highlighted key topics and the shifting dynamics of the market, including the regulatory framework in Bermuda and the UK, debating the opportunities and challenges of funded reinsurance, where next for the UK bulk purchase annuity market, potential European longevity markets and growth of life sidecar transactions. Morten Tiedemann delivered a presentation on “Beyond traditional reinsurance in Europe", looking at the key drivers for financial solutions demand in Europe, covering internal factors such as capital management, product innovation, and risk appetite as well as external factors such as regulatory changes, market dynamics and economic challenges. Morten also emphasised the crucial role of partnership in achieving optimal reinsurance solutions.

Margot, who holds a BA (Hons), MSc, and MBA, brings over twenty years of leadership experience in life insurance, financial services, and management consulting. She began her journey with us in 2020 as Chief Operating Officer of Hannover Life Re of Australasia and will join the Hannover office. Brugada syndrome is a hereditary cardiac disease that may cause dangerous arrhythmias, resulting in sudden death. The diagnosis relies on specific patterns seen in ECGs spontaneously or in response to provocation. It is essential to tell the difference between Brugada syndrome and conditions that cause a similarly looking ECG, or Brugada phenotype. As Dr Tea Mamaladze points out, the syndrome is diagnosed more frequently, and the research has demonstrated that the prognosis varies significantly depending on several factors.
