If you could encapsulate a memory, what would it be? Today, I am excited to share our latest innovation capsule - "Quatre 5D Memory". We have achieved the feat to encapsulate for billions of years an artwork in our iconic Quatre ring, in one of the Clou de Paris codes. This creation is the result of a collaboration with IRCAM-Centre Pompidou, one of the world's largest public research centers dedicated to musical creation and scientific research. Together, we developed a unique sound work inspired by the infinite sound of waves, a precious childhood memory of our Creative Director, Claire Choisne, who grew up by the ocean in the South of France. This work of art has been encoded into the Quatre ring thanks to the "5D memory" technology, an ultrafast nanostructuring technique invented by Peter Kazansky, Professor at the University of Southampton and the Chief Science Officer of SPhotonix. This process uses a femtosecond laser to engrave binary code into glass, allowing for the eternal storage of vast amounts of information including texts, images, videos, and sounds. We relied on an equally innovative technology called Glassomer® to achieve this tour de force. This silica glass possesses unique optical properties and was shaped in collaboration with the company of the same name to reproduce Quatre’s distinctive aesthetic. The Quatre ring becomes a true time capsule, protecting this precious data within the material itself. This new piece is not only a testament to our innovative spirit but also a symbol of our commitment to creating meaningful and emotionally resonant pieces. It is a message addressed to future generations, inviting them to explore the power of memory and the infinite potential of creativity.

News von Glassomer Research! In our most recent paper we demonstrate that using Glassomer resins features down to 300 nm can be replicated with high fidelity. This is a major step forward towards the fabrication of submicron structures in fused silica glass. Stay tuned how this will impact our product development!
