Have you ever heard of sustainable asphalt based on cashew nuts? 🌰 Fraport is exploring new, innovative approaches for the use of construction materials. Together with the startup “B2Square – Bitumen Beyond Oil,” the airport operator is using sustainable asphalt concrete to build and test a 200-meter-long section of road located on the airport apron. This is the first time that organic cashew-based bitumen has been used at an airport anywhere in the world. Which way? T’way! 🛫 Once again we're welcoming a new airline at our home base in Frankfurt: In October, the South Korean airline T'way Air launched three weekly flights from FRA to Seoul-Incheon (ICN). Another one will be added from November on. Next year, T'way would even like to serve the route daily. T’way Air currently operates A330-200 aircraft. From 2026, the carrier would like to deploy new A330-900neo airplanes on the route. At #frankfurtairport, the airline is based in Terminal 2. Ab auf den Gipfel! 🏔️ Und zwar nicht zur Wintersaison nach Norwegen oder in die Schweiz 😉, sondern gleich hier in Frankfurt! Gemeint ist der #DigitalGipfel2024 der Bundesregierung, der hier vom 21. bis 22. Oktober stattfand. Wir waren mit Jana Baschin, Rolf Felkel und Markus Volnhals dabei, denn als internationale Flughafenbetreiberin ist die digitale Transformation ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Zukunftsstrategie der Fraport AG. „Der Digital-Gipfel ist eine hervorragende Plattform, um wertvolle Impulse für unsere digitale Transformation zu erhalten und unsere eigenen Erfahrungen zu teilen“, sagt Jana Baschin über ihren Besuch vor Ort. Das bestätigt auch Rolf Felkel: „Von KI über Quanten-Computing bis Augmented Reality – alles zum Sehen und Anfassen und wir mittendrin. Ein tolles Event!“ Neben den eigenen Learnings gab unser Team auch Einblicke in die Digitalisierung bei Fraport, darunter:  👉 die aktualisierte Digitalisierungsstrategie der Fraport AG und die vielversprechenden Projekte, die an unseren Flughäfen bereits angestoßen wurden. So gewann das Teilprojekt “Disposition Ladeservice“ unserer Initiative AI@Fraport den KI Award 2024.  👉 die Digital Factory – unser Team aus Digitalisierungs- und Fachspezialisten, das durch intensive Beratung den Weg für erfolgreiche Digitalisierungsprojekte in unserem Konzern ebnet.  👉 die Digitale Transformation im Bereich Corporate Security am Beispiel des Leuchtturmprojektes Biometrie an Zugangskontrollen. Auf diese Weise wurde die Faszination Flughafen auch auf der Veranstaltung erlebbar, wie Markus Volnhals erzählt: „Ich habe mich über das Feedback der Zuhörer sehr gefreut. Following the recent floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, we are pleased to announce that Porto Alegre Airport will reopen for domestic landings and takeoffs starting October 21. Although operations will take place on a reduced runway and with limited capacity, the return to operations is a crucial step in the recovery of the city and state. Fraport Traffic Figures – September 2024: In September, Frankfurt Airport welcomed 5.8 million passengers which means that the cumulative traffic over the first nine months of the year amounted to around 46.7 million passengers. This corresponds to an increase of 4.9% compared to the same period in 2023. Also, total passenger numbers at all airports actively managed by Fraport rose by 0.7 percent year-on-year to about 19.4 million passengers in September 2024.
