PUSHING DRONE LIMITS: It Takes an Airship to Impress Netze BW 😎 A few days ago we demonstrated our airship drone to power grid operator Netze BW GmbH. As a hardware startup going through many „build-fail-repeat” cycles, the moment you present your MVP to the first potential customer is quite exciting - to put it mildly. 😅 Katharina Gill, Linda Menger, Jürgen Scholz, and Nicolas M. from Netze BW have been critical observers and asking us a ton of questions: Can you carry heavy payloads? Can you shoot steady images? Will you be stable even in windy conditions? Can you fly pre-programmed way-points? Can you fly from Stuttgart to Freiburg in one go? … and many more. The answer to all these questions was yes! Well, except „Stuttgart to Freiburg”. We are still working on that one. This incredible interest from a business that deploys drones on a very professional level showed us that drone technology has by far not reached its full potential yet. There is a place for airships and the time is now!

The goal is to minimize SWaP while maximizing #performance. This is especially crucial in fields like aerospace, military, and printed electronics where space, weight, and battery life are limited. Our partner Horizon Microtechnologies presents an innovative manufacturing solution that combines the benefits of photopolymer-based precision 3D printing, such as low weight, high resolution, and ease of processing, with the high conductivity of metals. Andreas Frölich will delve into the rationale and advantages of using this method for producing passive millimeter-wave (mm-wave) components. He will also showcase the functional assessment of several manufactured devices, demonstrating that their performance is as good as the theoretical limit for idealized devices. Some moments are meant to be savored, and the solar panel deployment tests for our satellite constellation are certainly one of them. These tests assure us and our customers that our constellation will have the power to achieve its ambitious goals: 🔍 Providing some of the highest-resolution thermal imagery to measure land surface temperature accurately anywhere on the globe. 💧 Helping save 60 billion tons of water and prevent 14 megatons of CO2 emissions over the next 5 years. 💰 Generating billions of Euros in gross benefits for farmers through reduced crop loss and water savings. The project was co-funded by the European Space Agency - ESA's #InCubed programme. In addition to the co-funding, the ESA team provided valuable technical expertise and commercial support.
