Together with the German Federal President Frank-Walter #Steinmeier, Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch visited the Arab Republic of Egypt as part of a business delegation from September 10 to 12.   With this visit, the delegation acknowledged #Egypt as a regional mediator in the Middle East, the long history of German-Egyptian relations and the expansion of cooperation in the fields of education, science and economy.   As part of a high-ranking 'German - Egyptian Business Round Table', the #delegation participants exchanged views with the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib. Another item on the packed agenda was the opening of the German International University (GIU) in #Cairo. An agreement on cooperation in the field of education was also signed on this occasion between Dr. Tobias Lindner and the German International University - GIU.   "This trip has further strengthened our good #cooperation between Diehl Defence and Egypt. The 125th NATO Airforce Armament Group Meeting took place at Diehl Defence in Überlingen from September 3 to 5. 18 nations took part in the event hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Defence (BMVg) on behalf of NATO.   The NATO Airforce Armament Group Meeting (NAFAG) takes place twice a year in one of the #NATO nations or at the NATO headquarter. NAFAG aims to ensure a regular exchange between NATO and the member nations in order to establish standards and interoperability for defence equipment.   This year, Germany was the host nation for the 125th meeting of the #NAFAG. The three-day meeting was held at the #DiehlDefence location in Überlingen at Lake Constance and organized by the Strategic Sales department. 16 NATO nations, Switzerland, Ukraine and representatives of the defence industry participated in the meeting. After a welcome address by Diehl Defence CPO Dr. Harald Buschek, the Chairman of NAFAG as well as the NAFAG Secretary opened the meeting.   While only national representatives, excluding industry, participated in the talks on the first day, various aviation and defence companies had the opportunity to take part in the meeting on the second day. The participants took the opportunity for personal exchanges and intensive discussions about current and #future joint projects.   On the final day, the participants were able to gain insights into the product portfolio and the competences of Diehl Defence.   It was a pleasure for Diehl Defence to support the BMVg. We hope to welcome the participants in Überlingen again in the future.

Pacific Skies 2024, one of the largest international Air Force Exercises in which the German Air Force took part alongside the French and Spanish Air Forces, recently came to end. The stations flown to were Alaska, Japan, Australia, Hawaii and India. The end of Pacific Skies was marked by the #IDAX-TX, International Defence Aviation Exposition – Tarang Shakti at the Indian Sulur Air Force Station.   #DiehlDefence and its representatives were also on site in #India to take part in the exhibition. We were delighted to welcome numerous high-ranking Air Force Chiefs of the participating nations and the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Ravindra Narayana Ravi at our booth. What a great week! The achievement of the initial operating capability for the first IRIS-T SLM system for the German Air Force marks an important first milestone in the creation of a comprehensive German and European air defence. With the completion of training for the first operators for the ground-based air defence system IRIS-T SLM, delivered by #DiehlDefence, the German Air Force achieved the initial operating capability (IOC) for the system. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius and the Chief of the German Air Force, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, acknowledged this milestone in the presence of Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch and a representative of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support during an official celebration at the Todendorf military #training area in Schleswig-Holstein. DALO: ZIESEL UGV ALS MULTIFUNKTIONSPLATTFORM Diehl Defence zeigt auf den #DALO Industry Days 2024 in Kopenhagen zusammen mit verschiedenen Partnern die multifunktionale Auslegung des Ziesel UGV (Unmanned Groud Vehcile). So ist das UGV Ziesel einmal als autonomes, taktisches Verwundetentransportfahrzeug/CASEVAC (Casualty Evacuations, deutsch: Verwundetenrettung) zu sehen. Die Integration und die medizinischen Geräte kommen von Meier-Medizintechnik GmbH. Als Mobilitätsplattform dient das Ziesel UGV. Das System ist vorgesehen für den Patiententransport, auch von Intensivpatienten. Im Idealfall wird das UGV von Sanitätssoldaten zur Versorgung begleitet, bei Bedarf kann der Transport und die Versorgung währenddessen aber auch autonom erfolgen. Die genutzten Systeme beinhalten auch ein Telemetrie-Modul, dass alle Informationen an eine Leitstelle übertragen kann. Auf dem Ziesel UGV ist neben der Bare das Thermotransportsystem (CasEvac Thermal Aocoonmit Kopfschutz) von PAX-Bags | X-CEN-TEK GmbH & Co. KG eingerüstet. Hinzu kommt die Beatmungstechnik, der SAROS Sauerstoffkonzentrator (bereits in der Truppe eingeführt) sowie der Blut- und Flüssigkeitswärmer M Warmer von MEQU. Das Gesamtsystem ist aber auch nach Nutzerbedingungen individuell anpassbar. Das Thermotransportsystem besitzt einen Aluderm-Kern, dies ist wichtig beim Transport von Patienten mit großen Wunden oder Verbrennungen. Integriert ist ein Saugkern, der bis zu 6,5 Liter aufnehmen kann, ohne diese wieder abzugeben. Für den Zugriff für das Sanitätspersonal bietet der Sack seitliche Zugänge. Mit einer entsprechenden Anpassung lässt der Ziesel sich auch zur Minen- bzw. Bombenaufklärung einsetzen. Hier stammen die Sonden dann vom deutschen Spezialisten FOERSTER | Detection & Security. Dabei zieht das UGV einen Magnetometer hinter sich her. Dieser hat einen Abstand von 7 Metern, um nicht durch Interferenzen vom Fahrzeug gestört zu werden. Dieser Sensor erkennt vor allem auch tiefliegende Bomben bzw. Blindgänger. Und dass bei Bedarf völlig autonom. So wird der Weg des UGV vorher per Track vorgegeben und das Fahrzeug mit der Sonde sucht das Gebiet autonom ab und erstell eine entsprechende Karte. Und dieses abstandsfähig, ohne Personal dabei zu binden oder zu gefährden. Der Vorteil eines Ziesel UGV gegenüber Unmanned Aerial Vehciles (UAVs), die Auswertung ist verlässlicher. Eine Suche nach Minen muss aber vorab und weiterhin per Hand durchgeführt werden. Denn auch das UGV Ziesel könnte entsprechende Minen natürlich auslösen. Hier kommen die Sonden MINEX (analog) oder FEREX (digital) von FOERSTER Detection zum Einsatz. Das Ziesel UGV kann als logistische Plattform diese vorab transportieren. Text und Foto: André Forkert
