July 28th is #WorldHepatitisDay. 🦠 We at #BIOMEX would like to take the opportunity to raise awareness of #hepatitis and emphasize the importance of research and diagnostics in the fight against this disease. World Hepatitis Day reminds us of the urgent need to address the global challenge of hepatitis. According to the WHO, in 2022, 254 million people worldwide were living with chronic hepatitis B, with approximately 1.2 million new infections occurring each year. Additionally, around 5% of these individuals also suffer from hepatitis D, a co-infection that exacerbates the condition. The WHO estimates that as of April 2024, 50 million people are affected by chronic hepatitis C, with about one million new infections annually. BIOMEX plays an important role in supporting the industry in hepatitis research by providing high quality, positively tested human biological specimens.
