🌟 Exciting Progress in Automated Vehicle Safety! 🌟 Drivers know how challenging it can be to navigate when faced with obstacles like blinding sunlight. At our recent autotech.agil consortium workshop at Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), we delved into how automated vehicles (AVs) can cope with such environmental degradation. We are thrilled to share that we discussed a reference architecture designed to make AVs not only fail-safe but also fail-operational in most cases. This means that even under challenging conditions, these vehicles can continue to operate safely. 🚗✨ Additionally, we've made significant strides in developing a consistent safety argumentation, which will be essential for the type approval of AVs. Ensuring that these vehicles can detect failures and maintain safe operation is key to building trust and advancing this technology. A big thank you to all the brilliant minds who participated in this workshop! Together, we're paving the way for safer and more reliable automated driving. #AutonomousVehicles #SafetyFirst #Innovation #Technology #TeamWork

As we approach October 16th – 17th, 2024, we are getting more and more excited about our mid-term event during the VDI-Congress ELIV - Electronics in Vehicles. At last years’s ELIV we participated with our #autonomous und #sustainable research vehicle #autoTAXI and the presentation “Rethinking Architectures for Fully Automated and Driverless Vehicles”. At the event, our #autoTAXI crossed paths with the #researchvehicle E-Jet, a human-hybrid vehicle with smart control from Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge (ika) - RWTH Aachen University. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate the #midterm of our #research project during this year’s ELIV. Together with our project #partners, we will present the first #highlights of our research work: 👉 Lightning Talk on the main stage: „From UNICARagil to autotech.agil – Future Mobility Systems enabling Autonomous Driving“ 👉 Presentation of selected project #milestones on the start-up stage, focusing on #software #architecture and #middleware 👉 Exhibition showcasing #demonstrators and videos on the topics „Future Mobility Systems“, „Automated Driving“ und „Software Architecture & Tools“ 👉 Vehicle #demonstration of the autonomous und sustainable research vehicle #autoTAXI 👉 Demonstration of #agile driving maneuvers with the autonomous und sustainable research vehicle #autoSHUTTLE on the Platz der Vereinten Nationen We look forward seeing both familiar and new faces at what promises to be a special #event! The AUTOtech.agil consortium met in Friedrichshafen near Lake Constance in July. During our sixth consortium workshop, we defined key #safety objectives and started working on a joint #safetyargumentation. We also focused on the #standardization of #software #architectures and #selfassessments of #services and #systems. In addition to the technical discussions, we began planning our upcoming public #demonstration events. So stay tuned for exciting updates! Beyond the work, we had the chance to take a peek at a #researchvehicle and burn off some energy participating in a company run. We really appreciated working together at the face-to-face meeting and are looking forward to further productive experiences together as a team from research institutions and companies from the automotive sector! A big shoutout to our lovely host: ZF Group! AUTOtech.agil is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (#BMBF). #autotechagil #automateddriving #autonomousdriving

As the leaves fall and temperatures drop, it’s time for autumn event season once again. We are excited to be part of this year’s Aachen Colloquium after a successful participation last year. Last year, we presented our joint #paper in the presentation "AUTOtech.agil - Architecture and technologies for orchestrating automotive agility". You can read the overview paper – providing insights into our project's scope, accomplishments, and our vision for the future of #mobilitysystems – #openaccess as secondary publication: https://lnkd.in/e8T2iPaj. We also enjoyed insightful presentations from our predecessor project UNICARagil, including "UNICARagil - Disruptive Modular Architectures for Automated Driving" and "ASOA - Framework & Middleware for Software-defined Vehicles". In addition to our presentation, we showcased our #autonomous and #sustainable research vehicle #autoSHUTTLE in front of the Eurogress and demonstrated the function "machine hearing". While most vehicles use #cameras, #lidar, and #radar for object detection, we have integrated #sensors and #software to give our vehicle the ability to “hear,” allowing it to detect external #sounds and locate their source. This can be especially useful for creating #rescuelanes, among other applications. We are excited to be back at the 33rd Aachen Colloquium this year with a new presentation "Principles and Use-Cases of the Live Digital Twin of Traffic in the AUTOtech.agil Project" and are looking forward to the #scientificexchange and #networking in #Aachen. In April, all project partners traveled to Günzburg near Ulm. In addition to reaching our second #milestones, we worked closely with our project #team from research institutions and companies from the #automotive sector on various technical challenges within AUTOtech.agil. We continued refining our #userstories, which will showcase the research results in the end of the project and developed a #safetyargumentation for these demonstrations. Besides that, we have delved deeper into our overall #architecture, further defining and refining the #interfaces. A special moment was when we signed the guestbook from the Reisensburg and came across an entry from our predecessor project UNICARagil – dated May 2019. It’s incredible to see how our current project builds on the foundation of UNICARagil, continuing the #research of an open #software and electrical/electronic architecture for the #mobilitysystem of the future with an even bigger project team. We hope to continue this journey with further research projects and great people. We really appreciated working together at the face-to-face meeting and are looking forward to further productive experiences together as a team from research institutions and companies from the automotive sector! A big shoutout to our lovely host: Universität Ulm! AUTOtech.agil is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (#BMBF). #autotechagil #automateddriving #autonomousdriving

We are back on the test track! Our research vehicle #autoSHUTTLE is now undergoing #realworldtesting with our newly redesigned #automationstack, which has already passed extensive simulations. Safety is our top priority, so all tests are conducted on a closed #testtrack. This particular test site holds special memories for us. One year ago, we celebrated the successful final event of our predecessor project UNICARagil at the Aldenhoven Testing Center. We are proud to work with a dedicated team of scientists, moving beyond concepts to bring automated vehicles into reality and shape the #futureofmobility.
