A Proud Moment for the Czech Republic at European Microscopy Congress 2024 in Copenhagen!🔬 🎉 We are thrilled to share that Vladislav Krzyzanek, President of the Czechoslovak Microscopy Society and the representative of the Ústav přístrojové techniky AV ČR, v.v.i., has just been elected President of the European Microscopy Society. This marks a historic moment, as he becomes the first representative from Central Europe to be elected to this esteemed position. 🏆 Adding to our pride, Professor Tomas Cizmar from Ústav přístrojové techniky AV ČR, v.v.i. has been awarded the prestigious European Microscopy Award. His pioneering work in developing deep tissue endo-microscopy in vivo has revolutionized medical imaging and neuroscience research. Congratulations to Professor Čižmar and Dr. Krzyžánek for these incredible achievements! 👏👏 🤝 The congress CMC 2024 also features a vibrant community of companies, universities, and research institutions from Brno, united under Brnoregion Microscopy. This collective effort is a testament to the growing impact and innovation coming out of Brno in the field of microscopy. 🚀 Czech Scientists Break New Ground: First to Visualize 3D Structure of Organic Material Older Than Earth 🌎. Czech Optical Cluster is proud to share that Czech researchers have become the first to observe the 3D structure of organic matter from the asteroid Ryugu— material older than our planet itself. This breakthrough, achieved using advanced microscopic techniques by a team from the Ústav fyzikální chemie J. Heyrovského AV ČR Hitesh Changela, Lukas Petera at CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology, and TESCAN facilities, reveals crucial insights into organic compounds preserved for 4.5 billion years. The findings, published in Nature Communications, deepen our understanding of the early Solar System's chemical composition and the origins of life on Earth. This milestone was made possible through international collaboration, with contributions from leading institutions in Europe and Japan. Photo by Ústav fyzikální chemie J. We are fostering collaboration with young talents by connecting them with companies in the field of optics 👩🎓 👨🎓 . Czech Optical Cluster, along with its members FORVIA HELLA, Rigaku, ELI Beamlines, and CRYTUR, spol. s r.o., supported the student conference OPTO 2024, held from July 22-26, 2024, in Prague. This conference, dedicated to optics, photonics, and related fields such as spintronics, is the perfect platform for young researchers to network and share their latest scientific achievements. Petr Přikryl represented the Czech Optical Cluster and showcased the activities of the cluster and the optical community in the Czech Republic. Marek Rozehnal from Lightigo s.r.o. participated in a panel discussion on startups. Pavel Tuček introduced Forvia Hella as a technological leader in the automotive industry. A big thank you to the main organizers of OPTO 2024 - the Optical Society of Matfyz, Charles University in Prague. Special thanks to Lukas Nowak and others 👏 👏 👏 . We are currently preparing more collaborative projects with high school and university students. Stay tunned 😉 ! 🌟 A great success for Czech science and electron microscopy! 🌟 Scientists from Brno have become the first in the world to image the surface structure of a chromosome in its natural state! 🧬 This groundbreaking discovery in electron microscopy brings worldwide recognition and highlights the top-tier level of research in the Czech Republic.🔬 This is all thanks to the new advanced environmental scanning electron microscopy method (A-ESEM), developed by the Brno team at the Ústav přístrojové techniky AV ČR, v.v.i. led by Vilém Neděla, in collaboration with colleagues from Ústav Experimentální Botaniky Av Čr, V.v.i. The method opens up the possibilities for investigating non-living, but especially living matter. 🚀 Military optics form a crucial pillar of the Czech Optical Cluster, and several of our member companies are bringing significant innovations to the defense industry. 🌟 EVPÚ Defence, which focuses on the development, production, and servicing of electro-optical technologies for the defense and security industry, has seen significant growth in recent years, not only due to an expanding product portfolio but also due to the increasing volume of major contracts it successfully fulfills. 📈 The most significant news for EVPÚ Defence is the successful conclusion of several years of negotiations with Swedish BAE Systems Hägglunds AB, the manufacturer of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, which has led to the company's inclusion in the industrial cooperation program for the Czech contract for these vehicles. The Czech Army will have a total of seven versions of the CV90 (command, combat, reconnaissance, artillery observer, engineering, recovery, and medical). The combat, command, and reconnaissance versions of the vehicle will be equipped with the CMS-1 command sight from EVPÚ Defence, providing the vehicle commander with complete situational awareness on the battlefield in any tactical environment and under all weather and lighting conditions. #innovation #optics #defense #security #industrialcooperation
