4 tips for creating an outbound/inbound process.
(It’s helped me book 600+ calls)
March 2020 was the first time I did an outreach campaign.
I had spent the last 3 months fundraising, then COVID hit.
All my investors dropped out, so I had to start finding new ones.
Back then, there was no AI, and very basic automation.
I would pay people from UpWork for investor leads, then I’d manually check each one.
It was a very long and arduous graft, but it paid off.
We ended up fundraising £285K for my startup.
Since then, I’ve built countless systems for outreach.
Here are my top tips:
➡️ 1: Use AI to check your data.
I’ve been noticing lately, a lot of prospect data is out of data.
What will then happen is you will outreach to someone, who has moved on.
Sometimes, that leads to a bounce. Which harms deliverability.
Not to mention, it is a wasted email which harms campaign performance.
What you should do instead is verify the data in real time.
To do this, upload your data in Clay and then the Prospeo.
It’ll scrape the LinkedIn profile in real time to get the latest data.
You then use ChatGPT to make a decision as to what their current role is.
➡️ 2: ‘Verified’ contact details, often aren’t verified.
Apollo is the biggest culprit.
They claim their data is, but often it isn’t.
What then happens is that you outreach to an email and it bounces.
As previously mentioned, this harms your performance.
Instead, you should do the following.
Use data providers like Apollo, ZoomInfo and Lusha as search engines only.
Then, use third-party email verifiers like MillionVerifier and LeadMagic.
(the more, the better)
This will help you reduce your bounce rate.
➡️ 3. Dynamic list-building is the future.
Outreaching in bulk still works.
But reaching out based on time-recent signals works better.
Why? Because it feels more relevant to the receiver.
For example, if someone has just posted a job looking for a sales-rep.
If I were to then outreach to them saying I can send a candidate for that role, it is fixing an immediate problem for them.
And, because job posts (for example) are always being posted, I have a constant stream of prospects.
To set these up, I’d use Apify and then set up an automation to push the leads directly into
Clay.
➡️ 4. Use Clay.
If you’re serious about your inbound and outbound process, you need Clay.
Notice how I didn’t say ‘should’ or ‘could’ use Clay. I said you NEED Clay.
It is a steep learning curve, but the value you get on the other side is immense.
It’ll blow your mind with the things you can do.
