Home made peanut butter
Long long ago, maybe around 35 years back, I remember my bhai trying to make this in our new Sumeet mixer. Even today, the word “peanut-butter” reminds me of him. The other day Neha asked me if I can buy her a bottle of peanut butter and my immediate response was, I shall make it at home. So, here is a simple recipe. Never knew it’s this simple. Now it only remains to see if Neha is going to like it or not. I am planning to add some cocoa powder and brown sugar to a part of it and see how it tastes
Ingredients:
- Peanuts 1 cup
- Salt a pinch
Method:
- Roast the peanuts in a pan or bake it in the oven at around 180 degree Celsius for around 15-20 minutes.
- Deskin around half of them and you can retain the skin of half.
- Transfer it into a food processor or a dry mixer jar and pulse it in short spurts.
- Scrape the sides regularly and keep pulsing it till you get a smooth homogeneous paste. Add the salt midway.
- Incase it looks very dry, you can add a spoon of peanut oil or any flavour less oil.
- Store in airtight containers.
- Enjoy it in your sandwiches or look forward to some interesting recipes.
Notes:
- If you like a smooth creamy texture, pulse it longer or if you want a coarse and crunchy texture, then do not grind longer.
- Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder and a tablespoon of brown sugar to get a sweeter chocolatey version of peanut butter 🙂
- Yes I indeed added a teaspoon or two of cocoa powder and around 1.5 to 2 tablespoon of brown sugar to it and got a beautiful peanut cocoa butter spread and believe me it really tasted yummy, almost like a snicker 🙂
