Announcing Vanessa Jacoby As New Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Research
|
|
After a highly competitive search, Vanessa Jacoby, MD, MAS has accepted the role of Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Research (AVC-CR). The AVC-CR provides enterprise-wide leadership to the clinical research community, directing UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and overseeing all Office of Research clinical research programs. Dr. Jacoby is professor and vice chair of Research for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. In her nearly two-decade career, she has conducted multiple studies to improve care for people with uterine fibroids, including clinical trials of new, minimally invasive surgical and medical therapies. Since the start of the pandemic, Dr. Jacoby has worked with multidisciplinary teams to study the impact of COVID-19 on reproductive health and outcomes. Her research has been driven by patient-centered outcomes, community partnerships, and recruitment of underrepresented study populations. Dr. Jacoby has served as faculty director for CTSI’s Participant Recruitment Program since 2016.

Project Echo is now in its test phase of development. This is a significant milestone for the project team that is building a secure online platform to better connect and communicate with faculty, staff, and learners, providing the news, information, tools, and resources we need to work more effectively.
Currently, the initial test portal has been released to a focus group within the research community. The project team will eagerly review feedback from this group to help inform the portal’s continued development. Ultimately, at full build-out, the portal will serve the entire UCSF community, connecting faculty and staff across our mission and areas of interest together on one platform, a digital town square that unites us as one UCSF.

The policy for CRC access to CE has been refined; please see the Policy and FAQ document. Access to CE by CRCs is dependent on the CRC working under the supervision of an MD/DO caring for a UCSF patient and access is for treatment only. In all cases, access to outside organizations’ information via Care Everywhere by CRCs during a clinical trial is the responsibility of the principal investigator who is the patient’s treating MD/DO.
Want to know where your submission is in the IRB review process? Use this guide to learn how to check your study status. This guide is one of many resources available on the IRB's iRIS help site.
For a limited time, the CTSI IMPACT Program is offering free consultation services to researchers and scientists to assist with translating their evidence to policy, guidelines, and regulations.
