Deutsch: Carl Friedrich Graf Reinhard (1761-1837) Diplomat Kreidezeichnung von J.Schmeller. Mit dem späteren Grafen Reinhard, einem seit 1792 in der französischen Diplomatie tätigen Schwaben, der damals Napoleons Gesandter in Kassel war, trat Goethe im Sommer 1807 in Karlsbad in ein vertrauliches Verhältnis, das "sich in der Folge sehr fruchtbar ausbildete". 1809, 1823 und 1829 besuchte Reinhard den Dichter in Weimar, 1810 vermittelte er die Bekanntschaft Goethes mit den Brüdern Boisserée. Ein Inhaltreicher Briefwechsel zwischen dem Dichter und dem geistreichen, an allen Arbeiten Goethes lebhaft interessierten Weltmann zeugt von gegenseitiger Wertschätzung. |
