Freedom from Fear was published in the March 13, 1943, issue of The Saturday Evening Post accompanied by an essay by Stephen Vincent Benét, as the fourth in the magazine's "Four Freedoms" series. The painting also appears on a 1943 poster produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office for the Office of War Information.
