Description
A concert hall built after 1857 to mark the coming of age of the heir to a local grandee. Shows including ITMA (It's That Man Again) were broadcast from here when the BBC Light Entertainment Department was based in Bangor during the Second World War. The hall is used for meetings of the City Council.
A large open four bay hall set gable end to Tan-y-Fynwent. The gable end shows a restrained plain rendered facade with an oval lunette in the pediment. However, it has a rather heavy single storey vestibule range, rubble stone with quoins and plinth. This has twin round headed doorways, flanked by windows with pedimented lintels.
