I've owned the GE CYNC Smart LED Light Bulb for nearly three years, and it is installed in our outdoor garage light fixture. I have found that many smart devices go offline quite easily, often when the software is updated, or when there is a power outage. The GE CYNC Smart LED Light Bulb has consistently retained its programming over the years. If I had any complaint, it is that the phone app is a bit more complicated than is necessary. I know this is to allow the maximum flexibility in programming timing, color, and brightness, but at the risk of being the "Okay Boomer", I think there could be a simpler procedure to just program the light to go on and off and then perhaps another level of complexity if you want to change colors, brightness, or program multiple devices.

I also have a GE Cync programmable exterior outlet for my Christmas decorations that is controlled by the same phone app, and the program does allow for easy selection of which device needs to be programmed.

While I hope the GE CYNC Smart LED Light Bulb will last a few more years, I am confident that I will purchase this product again.

I purchased a single bulb and I was able to get it connected and working the first night, loved playing with the colors. Ordered 2 more. The next day, I was unable to connect to original light, now the Cync app won’t even find the original bulb. Did the factory reset per the GE support, and I could get it to connect for a moment…. Just don’t close the app, because you lose your devices. And attempting to set it up with Alexa…. Forget it, she can’t find it either.

Update: this bulb connects to your phone thru wifi, so if your wifi goes out the bulb only remembers its last setting. Even if you turn it on/off with the lamp switch. Kind of annoying.
I previously had a GE light bulb that was controlled by a small remote that came with the bulb. This one is much better that the bulb can be controlled through your phone (the other one, the remote would fall off the nightstand and I'd have to find it).
If you use this bulb strait out of the box without connecting to your phone it's normal color tone would be like "warm white" (yellowish).
Once you connect it you can choose from a multitude of colors, tones from "cool white" to "candle". And also dim or brighten. Then obviously on/off.
The app is easy to set up, use, control the lights. You can connect a bunch of devices, which I plan to buy some for my living room. And you can set routines for your lights to turn on & off.
Right now I have the bulb in my nightstand lamp that once I'm done reading I can just turn off the lamp and set my phone down. No need to reach out to turn off the lamp! Sounds lazy I know, but it's very nice.

I have been through dozens of lights for my Alexis system. I have always had a problem with the Wi-Fi connections because every time you lose internet you lose everything on your household system. When I upgraded from 2.4 g to 5G networking inside my house, all of my 2.4 g lights cease to function. Day better, which also makes a light was a disaster of epic proportions to the point where I threatened to sue them for the lies they had told. Then I got these bulbs. I literally plug them in and told my Alexa to go find something Bluetooth and I have not had a problem with my lights since that day when the internet goes out, as soon as it comes back on all of my lights reconnect to their appropriate Alexa devices. Devices. At this point, if you are serious about fully automating all the lights in your home, this is the only system I have found that leads to more light and less frustration. Frustration. Before this, all I ever had was rage and darkness. Now I can tell my lights to turn on and off at will.

Wish I could submit a 0 star review. Bought 4 of these. Basically very expensive light bulbs. Continually says unresponsive. They worked the first day but have failed after that. One stopped being lit after one week. Tried to set a routine but cannot because they are net online. Bought them so I would no longer have to change bulb colors for the holiday. Bad idea. The amount of time spent trouble shooting I could have changed the ulna numerous times. Epic failure and waste of time.

I’ve had this light bulb for a little less than two years, and it won’t turn on no matter what I try. The power in my apartment intermittently goes off, and I’ve had numerous problems with the light refusing to connect afterwards. While factory resetting it (have tried all the ways they offer online) has worked before, the light no longer responds to any of the factory reset directions provided by Cync online. I’ve tried switching the bulb to other lamps (and vice versa) to see if the lamp was the problem, but it is clear the problem lies with the bulb since it won’t as much as flicker on when I screw it into a new lamp that I know for a fact works. When I’ve put other bulbs in the original lamp, they all turn on no problem, so the issue is clearly with the Cync bulb. This product seems like a waste of money considering how little time it actually worked for and more trouble than it’s worth given all the different factory resets you have to try and other troubleshooting through their app which may or may not even end up fixing your problem.

I bought one bulb and was excited to give it a try. I do not use Alexa or Google home .

Important note - May 2023: there seems to be a scam app in the Apple app store if you search for CYNC. This app shows ads and asks for a subscription or one-time $99 fee. DO NOT USE THIS APP.

I searched using "C by GE" and found a different app that works without a payment required.

If you look carefully at the reviews of the bad Cync app, only one written review gave it 5 stars. Beware.
