During the course of our 2-week trip, these bags endured 15 separate flights and experienced just about every kind of abuse you can imagine, from sitting on the tarmac in the rain, normal baggage handling, being thrown on dirt ground, thrown on asphalt, being stuffed into small cargo holds on 5 light aircraft flights, and being stuffed into numerous transfer vehicles. Throughout all of this, the bags performed perfectly. Nothing inside ever got wet or dirty, all the zippers stayed closed, and there were no rips or tears. The same was true for the 4 other bags that our travel companions were using.
The attached photos show the tops and bottoms of the bags after the end of our trip. They were a little dirty, as you would expect, but otherwise in perfect condition. The heaviest of the two bags weighs 27 lbs., fully loaded. The other photos show the bags being unloaded from a few of our light aircraft flights in Africa.
In terms of the usability of the bags, they're divided into 3 zippered compartments (4, if you count the top backstrap pocket, and the inside has another divider that can optionally be used to separate things into two sides. One thing that really worked well was the two end pockets, which I was able to fit one of my size 13 hiking boots into each end, and it kept the dirt, etc. from getting into the center clothes compartment. The bags of have lots of handles, which makes them easy to grab from any side/angle.
The only minor suggestion I have for improving these bags is to make the backpack straps completely detachable. As it is, they can be conveniently stored in the dedicated top zipper pocket, but I had no plans to use them and would have preferred to detach them and have the extra storage space. I thought about just cutting them off, but I ended-up not doing that just in case I wanted to use them in the future.
Overall, I highly recommend these bags. They're a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. They're very durable and solidly constructed, keep everything inside clean and dry, and easily handle every kind of abuse you can throw at them. They also met the size restrictions of the light aircraft we flew on during our trip. I have no doubt we will be using them for many years to come.

I really like the features of this duffel. The main compartment has a divider that you can use or not, depending on your packing style (I used it to keep my clothes -- in packing cubes -- in one half and other items in the other half). The divider can easily be dropped down if you don't want to use it.
The main compartment also has compression straps so you can secure and compact your load. Bonus, the compression straps add extra support to the zipper that secures the U-shaped opening.
In addition to the main compartment, this duffel also has extra storage compartments at both ends. Good for isolating things like shoes from your clothing.
This duffel has backpack straps for easy carrying and the straps stow away in a zippered pocket to keep them out of the way when not needed -- very handy when checking this bag on an aircraft. The bag also features multiple grab straps for versatility.
The only thing I would add to this bag is size. This duffel comes in 40L, 60L, and 90L sizes. For my needs, 90L is too big and 60L is almost too small. I would really prefer an in-between size, maybe 70L.
