The Heart (& Art) of Money. Wednesday September 4th, Marion Campan hosted the next interview in her regular EO Spotlight Series podcast - with guest EO member Cadence Hardenbergh - to a busy room of members and guests. Cadence is COO & co-founder of SideChef - a cutting-edge home cooking platform that has gained widespread acclaim, including being named Best App of the Year by Google, and a favorite by The New York Times. With a series of questions themed around cash, Cadence shared her journey navigating the financial complexities of launching and running her business, giving insight into the challenges and triumphs she has experienced along the way. One key message Cadence drove home was the importance of understanding the financial pulse of your business. She emphasized the need for entrepreneurs to be deeply familiar with their cash flow, budgeting, and overall financial health. She included a personal anecdote about a symbolic $20 bill she keeps as a reminder of tough times in the business, illustrating how financial discipline plays a crucial role in long-term success. Cadence also provided practical advice on how to handle financial requests and prioritize expenses. Her method of categorizing expenditures based on necessity and relevance underscores the importance of maintaining focus on what truly matters while avoiding unnecessary distractions. Beyond business, she also encouraged entrepreneurs to view money as a means of fulfilling personal dreams and goals, urging business leaders to invest not only in their companies but also in the pleasures and joys of life. The interview was a powerful call to action for entrepreneurs to take control of their financial futures. Subscribe to Marion’s “EO Spotlight Series” podcast if you want to hear the full interview. As always, EO Shanghai and our EOA Accelerator program remain committed to fostering entrepreneurial growth through events where learning, networking, and mentorship come together to support business success. #FinancialWisdom #EOShanghai #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #SideChef #BusinessGrowth #Podcast #EntrepreneursOrganization

Everyone wants to work in a good culture. However, deciphering the environment at a would-be employer is difficult. Business Insider notes three crucial questions to ask in an interview from corporate culture expert Marion Campan. Among them is asking what kind of worker receives promotions at that company. If the answer concerns employees who fit the culture and are role models, that's a green flag. Ask what the company's core values are, Campan says. Also, inquire about how the company dispatches feedback. Did the hiring manager you're speaking with recently receive some? What was the process like? If they only hear feedback in annual reviews, that may be a red flag. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eqfEcWVB Summary ✍: Todd Dybas

Creating a World where Nobody Hates Going to Work. Strategic HR Advisory in China.

Two weeks ago... We wrapped up an engaging workshop on "𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚 | 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬." with Duan & Duan Law Firm. (Link to their article about the event with Intandid and Nishtha Mehta in the comments) It was a great experience partnering with them on their journey to sharpen communication skills and elevate client service! 🌟 The firm's commitment to learning and growth is inspiring. During the training, together, we explored practical ways to enhance communication and bring tangible value to clients. Special mention of Anna Lukina without whom this wouldn't have been possible. Big thanks to Duan & Duan for creating such an impactful learning space for their team. I am excited to see them continue this path with their upcoming session on presentation skills next week! Here's to better conversations and even better outcomes! 💬🚀 #CorporateCulture #Leadership #ClientSuccess #ContinuousImprovement

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲? A few months ago, I did a TED Talk on Corporate Culture. I shared 3 questions to ask during your job interviews. The questions help you discover what the company culture is really like. This TED Talk is useful for candidates who are in a hiring process. But it's also meant for companies who want to up their game when it comes to hiring. So what are the 3 questions to check that a company culture is the right fit for you? One of them is: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲’𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬? Simple, but crucial question. Already, this question will give your SO MUCH information. I have seen different answers, and here is how I interpret them: 1) - 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The interviewer has no idea what you mean with "core values". 🧐 > 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭... this company doesn't have a strong culture or a sense of what it's like to work there. It’s not necessarily a Red Flag, 🚩but probably not a great sign. 2) - 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The interviewer answers clearly all the core values, but is unable to give you concrete, recent examples of a core value. > 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭... this company has a great internal marketing, but really doesn't live by their core values at all. They do great at talking. but they don't walk the walk. It’s a Red Flag, 🚩 I would run away. 3) - 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The interviewer knows the core values in the company, is able to give you recent examples where they have applied them, or seen colleagues displaying the values in the company. They also ask about your values and how you see you would fit in this corporate culture. > 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭... this company cares. Not only about who they are, and walking the walk. But they also care about you and who you are. And how you will play a role in the dynamics of the company. Green flag ✅ —— Who knew a few simple questions could be a game-changer when choosing your future employer? What do you think? What are your go-to questions in interviews to check that the company will be a great place to work for you? TED Conferences NYU Shanghai

Maybe you already know that companies with strong cultures outlast their competitors with : - 17% 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 ↗ 💼 - 20% 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 💰 💲 - 21% 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. 📈 (Based on Gallup’s research) But maybe you don’t know about my backstory yet? With City News Service and SHINE Magazine, I have responded to a few more “private” questions. Are you hearing complaints at work? 😡 😠 👿 This can be exhausting. And feeling like you're not making real progress. But think about it like this: If people feel they can complain, … 𝐈𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 😉 They trust you will: - listen, - understand, - and help solve their issues. Isn’t that good news? So next time you're hearing someone in your team mumble and grumble, you can be proud and happy about yourself because: 1) People feel they can complain. This is a sign of the healthy environment where feedbacks are allowed. 2) Complaints = opportunities for improvement. Now you have concrete material to work on to build an outstanding workplace culture. So you're hearing complaints? 𝓒𝓞𝓝𝓖𝓡𝓐𝓣𝓢! 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 ————— If you need support in building an outstanding workplace culture, we can help and give you a first assessment of your company.
