When #rebar or round steel is moved in and out of storage, it often needs to be labelled, and we need to weld or stick the label on a suitable one. ✅ If it is a bundle of thin rebar, general 3D vision system will select one of the most prominent, will be labelled on it. ✅ If it is a bundle of thicker round steel, the 3D vision system will generally select the centre of the bundle and guide the #robot to weld the label onto it. Of course, if the centre is deeper, the vision system will select the other more prominent one near the centre for safety. The following case shows the scene of labelling round steel. ALSONTECH provided #3Dvision guidance services to a well-known gearbox manufacturing company. By using a compact #3Dcamera, the AT-S1000-06C-S, on their equipment housing machining line, we were able to locate different types and models of black cast parts and guide the robot to pick up the parts for post-processing. As black is the most light-absorbing colour and prone to imaging problems, the AT-S1000-06C-S uses raster structured light imaging with binocular structure and optimal limiting ratio to provide users with better continuous work stability and excellent positioning accuracy. We often go back to returning customers who have been using ALSONTECH's #3Dcameras for many years, and the equipment from back then is still working solidly today. For example, the scene in the picture below is a manufacturing site for engine block moulds, and the customer purchased ALSONTECH's large field of view 3D camera AT-S1000-01A in 2019 for automated handling of different types of sand cores. It's been five years and the equipment is still working hard. The production environment of the foundry industry is relatively poor, with high temperature, diffuse dust and very dim, which requires high environmental adaptability of the #3Dcamera.The AT-S1000-01A we chose for the customer is a #laser 3D camera, with the characteristics of strong penetration and adaptability of the laser product, unlike 2D camera, which requires very accurate lighting support, and can still work continuously in low light conditions. For daily maintenance, only the necessary wiping and cleaning is required on a regular basis. Customers need to deal with 2~3 different sizes and shapes of sand cores, before adopting vision technology, customers may need to carry out custom tool processing, customs clearance and frequent change of installation, once a certain type of sand core is no longer in demand, these custom tools will become scrap, resulting in a great waste of cost. After the introduction of our #3Dvision, customers only need to build and switch the corresponding models in the supporting vision software to complete the production changeover, and if there is a new model to add, it can also be completed within two hours, which is very convenient and the cost is also very controllable. Sand core is very fragile, in the positioning accuracy requirements are very high, because of the gripper inaccuracy caused by the fall of sand, broken, etc. to avoid. At the just concluded 27th Beijing #Essen Welding & Cutting Fair, ALSONTECH and our eco-partner Universal Robots presented an automatic #welding scenario. The #3Dcamera collects the point cloud of the workpiece, and through the splicing and calculation of the vision software, the welding path of the robot is automatically planned and the robot can be guided to complete the automatic welding of all types of vertical welds without the need for manual teaching of multiple points.
