CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Three men and a 17-year-old girl were charged this week after Clarksville police discovered a fake video game scheme.
Police said the suspects were purchasing video games, making copies of them, and returning the fakes to local businesses for a refund.
Officers responded to a shoplifting call September 21 around 9:30 p.m. at a Wilma Rudolph Blvd. business involving one of the suspects, Durant Randolph, who was allegedly purchasing Xbox One games and returning the fake copies for money.
When the other three suspects returned to the store around 11 p.m., police were notified and found the suspects at a nearby gas station. Officers discovered equipment used to copy and repackage the fake games inside of the suspects’ vehicle.
Durant Randolph, 27, was charged with two counts of criminal simulation. His bond was set at $10,000.
Jacob Ellenberger, 23, was charged with criminal simulation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His bond was set at $35,000.
LaKarian Johnson, 24 was charged with two counts of criminal simulation, simple possession, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His bond was set at $42,500.
The 17-year-old was charged with criminal simulation.
