The Collaborative is split into four main portfolios of work: Tribal Coastal Resilience; Rural Resilience; Scaling Resilience and Evaluation. The Tribal Coastal Resilience Portfolio and the Rural Resilience Portfolio focus on key types of communities facing disproportionate impacts of climate change in the Northwest. Projects in these portfolios integrate research in the natural and social sciences to understand community needs, priorities, values and opportunities for accelerating adaptation, and engage in the community to support actions to increase climate resilience.

The Scaling Resilience Portfolio includes activities designed to accelerate climate adaptation in the Northwest and beyond. The Evaluation Portfolio studies relationships, processes and outcomes of each portfolio to enable adaptive management of projects and advance the science of evaluation and participatory research on resilience.
