🚮Our beach cleaning efforts last week was a great success! 🏖️ More than 100 colleagues and friends from the Taiwan team gathered at a beach near our Taoyuan facility to collect litter, contributing their time and energy to maintain coastal cleanliness. 🗑️    General Manager of the Taiwan office Sebastian Feng remarked, “I am so happy to see colleagues bringing families, children, and partners to this activity. We are spreading environmental awareness to people around us, and the next generation.” SHL continues to drive various sustainable initiatives to protect the environment and preserve natural resources. According to the 2023 sustainability report, we are committed to 80% waste recycling by 2025, with 74% already achieved in 2023! What an eventful first day! Our expert Nagisa Kobashi introduced the Elexy™ – SHL’s first electromechanical autoinjector, during the highly anticipated tech talk. Elexy is SHL’s newest drug delivery offering that features a single, reusable, and connected power unit that accommodates a drug cassette containing either a pre-filled syringe or a cartridge. We were thrilled to showcase Elexy, as well as various other product offerings to many interested event attendees who visited our booth. The launch of our first electric truck 🚛 is a key step in SHL Medical’s mission to enhance our supply chain excellence. The integration of the electric truck into our operations set a precedent for how green logistics can drive both environmental and supply chain efficiency. Our commitment to supply chain excellence extends to every link – from sustainable transportation to improved logistics practices. As part of this effort, we’ve set targets to have 100% of our strategic suppliers sign the Supplier Code of Conduct by 2025, and for 90% of relevant suppliers to undergo a sustainability assessment within the same period. At this year’s PDA - Parenteral Drug Association Universe Conference, SHL Medical’s Ralph Howald and Matchstick, LLC’s Madeleine Anderson join forces to share insights on the environmental impact of large-volume subcutaneous (SC) injections at home. Through detailed quantitative analysis and ethnography on supply use, disposal, and storage, SHL and Matchstick have identified key drivers of supply use and new ways to think about potential improvements. As the industry shifts from intravenous (IV) to SC formulations and towards self-administration at home, we need to define a baseline to characterize the current sustainability impact of LVSC. At-home SC administration likely improves sustainability versus in-clinic infusions, but benchmarking data is unavailable. Here, we directly analyzed real-world patient supply use and disposal practices for current SCIg home infusion workflows as part of a larger study including IVIg and SC oncology.
