We hosted an inspiring "AI in Biotech" event featuring prominent experts Noëmi Thum, Christof Zogg, Gisbert SCHNEIDER, Sai Reddy, and Lars Nieba. The event focused on the transformative power of artificial intelligence and its profound implications for our lives as well as more specifically in healthcare and life sciences. They shared valuable insights into how AI is revolutionizing the development of new and more effective medicines, and even discussed its potential to predict future pandemics. This event clearly demonstrated transformative power of AI for the biotech sector, enabling a revolution across various fields, and hinting at even more possibilities for the future. Paul has had an extensive executive career in the biopharma space, with commercial and M&A expertise spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. Our Managing Partner Dominik Escher becomes Chair of the newly established Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering – BIIE We are exited to announce the launch of the Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering (BIIE), a newly founded global research center in Basel dedicated to advancing immune engineering and improving child and adolescent health worldwide. Our Managing Partner Dominik Escher is chairing the board of trustees which includes distinguished leaders from academia, biotechnology, and finance with Jennifer Cochran (Stanford University), Gunilla Karlsson Hedestam (Karolinska Institute), Andy May (DCVC Bio), Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola (University of Lagos) and Josef Stadler (UBS). The mission of the BIIE is to develop translational solutions for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The BIIE will grow to a vibrant institute of up to 300 scientists and support staff. The BIIE is led by a dedicated management team, including Stephen Wilson, PhD, Sai Reddy, a Venture Partner of Pureos Bioventures, and Georg Holländer. News from our new portfolio company Adcytherix! We participated in the EUR 30mn seed financing round of Adcytherix SAS (Marseille, France) together with Pontifax Venture Capital, RA Capital Management and Dawn Biopharma (a platform controlled by KKR). The company was founded by a team of serial entrepreneurs led by Dr. Jack Elands (CEO). The management team previously founded Emergence Therapeutics, where they were instrumental in shaping its vision and strategy, leading to the acquisition by Eli Lilly and Company last year.
