Mercy Corps is horrified by the alarming continuation of violence committed against civilians in Israel and Gaza, and deeply concerned by the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. As the conflict escalates, the urgent need for humanitarian assistance - and supplies including water, food and fuel - intensifies. Mercy Corps has worked in the West Bank and Gaza since 1986, providing humanitarian support including access to water, working with children and young people, and connecting people to economic opportunities in an area where unemployment is over 40 percent. We are working to restart our humanitarian programs in Gaza and our team members there are committed to significantly ramping up much-needed lifesaving assistance as soon as it is safe to do so. #gaza #israel #palestine #humanitarianaid

POWERED BY POSSIBLE The world is more fragile than ever. Food shortages have left millions of people hungry, while violent conflict has sent millions on the run. From poverty and malnutrition to natural disasters and climate change, it’s easy to see a world of insurmountable challenges. Instead, we see an opportunity to create transformative change. We see the world differently. In crisis, we believe in the power of human potential. In struggle, we believe in the ability of communities to grow stronger. So we act differently. We understand that communities are the best agents of their own change and local markets are the best engines of long-term recovery. In more than 40 countries, we partner to put bold solutions into action, helping people triumph over adversity and grow stronger from within. For the refugee who dreams of rebuilding her country, for the mother who wants a healthy future for her children — for millions of people filled with the power of possibility —Mercy Corps connects people to the resources they need to build better, stronger lives. We create transformative change. Mercy Corps has responded to nearly every global emergency over the past 20 years. Since 1979, we have provided $3.7 billion in lifesaving assistance throughout the world. Each year we infuse millions of dollars into local economies through small business loans and grants to provide livelihoods for the world’s most vulnerable people. We are empowering more than 100,000 youth trapped by violent conflict to overcome the profound stress of war and become change makers in their communities. We are powered by the belief that a better world is possible. Join us.

When art meets action, we create a better—and definitely more colorful—world.🎨🤍 In Northern #Jordan, one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, our team has been bringing awareness around water scarcity conservation through the “Hold Water” street art project. All six murals include one common element: the Black Iris flower, Jordan’s national symbol of growth, renewal, and change in a dry environment. #EveryDropCounts #ArtforConservation #WorldWaterWeek #WWWeek

Check out our amazing team member Muna Hellen in Newsweek: https://bit.ly/MunaHellen In 2016, Muna and her family fled the war in South Sudan and made the difficult journey to Uganda as refugees. Now, as a DREAMS Business Mentor, Muna is helping other refugees to become entrepreneurs and break the cycle of extreme poverty. "Working with my fellow South Sudanese community has been the most rewarding aspect of this role...Watching them succeed and grow as business owners brings me great joy. Together, we're not just starting businesses, we're ending the cycle of poverty for good. In their success, I've found my purpose."
