Join us from August 28th - 31st at the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA) as we showcase the NextAR™️ Knee Application! Experience NextAR Knee, an Augmented Reality Surgical Platform for total knee replacement. NextAR Knee features an automated algorithm to detect ligament attachments and accurately track them in real-time in the OR. This allows a 3D analysis of soft tissue behavior throughout the whole range of motion during surgery, taking patient-specific ligament balancing to the next level. NextAR Knee is part of the NextAR Platform, which is offered as a hardware system with limited capital investment and single-use instrumentation at a low cost per-case and offers the ability to host software for multiple applications. The platform represents an optimal solution worldwide and particularly for U.S. Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). Meet Marcus Staton, who has been with Medacta since 2018! Marcus initially started as an Associate Sales Rep and was later promoted to Manager for Medacta Academy. As a rep, he gained extensive experience guiding surgeons through the MORE platform by supporting them as they learned new techniques. He currently helps train the sales force to provide ongoing support and finds fulfillment in a positive patient outcome following a challenging case in the operating room. The more challenging the case, the more rewarding it feels after completion. Marcus enjoys sharing his experiences with the sales force and surgical team to better prepare them for both typical and unusual cases they may face. Marcus’ family has had a profound influence on his career and his life. He developed his passion for the orthopedic field from his mother, who worked as an OR nurse and orthopedic coordinator for over 40 years at their local hospital. He watched his mother care for others, and he applies this compassion to his interactions with all members of the surgical team. In addition, Marcus credits his grandfather with teaching him the importance of hard work and finding happiness in life's simple moments. When Marcus isn’t in the OR, he likes to spend his time outdoors hanging with his dog Ryder or enjoying golf, mountain biking, and his newest obsession, skydiving! Thank you, Marcus, for sharing your talents with Medacta and making us a better team! #beMedacta #hiring

We’re honored to be joined by our 2024 Summer Interns Delaney C. (Clawson) (left) and Maggie Wilson (right). Delaney graduated from Vanderbilt University in May after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a minor in Digital Fabrication. This fall, she’ll be pursuing her Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern. She first became interested in her field in middle school after reading an article about a surgeon who practiced infant heart surgery using a 3D printed version of the heart. Years later, she visited a makerspace and found the exact model that had introduced her to engineering, and she’s now on the path to making her own mark as she looks to research prosthetics design. Maggie is a rising senior at Vanderbilt University where she is majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She joined us last summer as well and continued working part-time until spending a great semester studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. She’s also quite the ice cream aficionado and 3D printing extraordinaire, having created several interactive display models of our implants that have been featured at industry events! They’ve already become tremendous assets to our team, and we look forward to watching their continued success in the future!
