KIDEMIS Joins the Sustainable Ocean Summit 2024! From November 5-7 in Barcelona, KIDEMIS joins global leaders at the Sustainable Ocean Summit, where we’ll dive into meaningful discussions on responsible aquaculture and the future of our oceans. We’re bringing fresh ideas on eco-friendly seafood production, aiming to redefine the industry with solutions that prioritize both sustainability and marine health. It's about making real change for the future of our oceans. Huge thanks to the World Ocean Council for organizing this impactful gathering and uniting voices for ocean stewardship! 

In the aquaculture industry, some practices prioritize high yields and profitability over ethical treatment, often pushing animals to their limits. One controversial example is eyestalk ablation, a method used in shrimp farming to accelerate reproduction by removing one of the female shrimp's eyestalks. While this technique may increase egg production, it causes significant stress and pain, raising serious animal welfare concerns. Such practices highlight the ethical challenges within the industry, where the pursuit of productivity can come at the expense of humane treatment. It’s time to explore alternative, sustainable methods that don’t compromise animal welfare. Our innovative process converts sidestreams into high-quality, nutritious protein for fish feed through solid-state mycelium fermentation. Here's how it works: Agricultural sidestreams: we start with substrates from agricultural waste, giving new life to materials that would otherwise go unused. Solid State Mycelium Fermentation: through an eco-friendly fermentation process, mycelium converts these sidestreams into nutrient-dense proteins. Nutritious & Sustainable Protein Meal: the result is a cost-effective, sustainable feed packed with the nutrients needed for healthy aquaculture.
