Earlier this week, CIOs of some of the UK’s largest pensions funds, policymakers, and energy and sustainable finance experts came together for a landmark roundtable Attendees amongst others included our Head of Infrastructure Equity for Europe, Deepa Bharadwaj and Australia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, The Honourable Stephen Smith (photographed). The roundtable event focused on the recommendations in our new blueprint: “Mobilising pension capital for net zero: a policy blueprint for the UK.” We believe, with active reform across fiscal, planning, climate, renewables and decarbonisation policy, the government can crowd in pension capital at scale to finance the energy transition while delivering returns for members. We outline how in our flagship blueprint. Read here: https://bit.ly/3XVNa9b

We were thrilled to join colleagues from across the superannuation sector last night to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Women in Super. Women in Super has been a leader in advocating for gender equality across the superannuation sector and the retirement savings of working people, and it was fitting that The Hon. Julia Gillard AC addressed last night’s celebration. We’re also proud to be sponsoring the 2024 Women in Super Conference which is happening today and exploring how the superannuation sector addresses head-on the individual threads of inequality that feed into disadvantage across the life-course and into retirement. At today’s session, our Chair, Cath Bowtell, is moderating two panel discussions, the first on gendered violence and the other on the importance of economic security for victim-survivors. The new UK government has made clean power by 2030 one of its defining missions and wants to work with pension capital to achieve this. IFM Investors has launched a first-time collaboration with some of the largest pension funds in the UK and Australia to call for a suite of policy reforms that, we believe, can stimulate pension capital investment in the UK’s energy transition. Together, as investors on behalf of £1.7trn in workers’ retirement savings, we have launched the landmark blueprint, “Mobilising pension capital for net zero: a policy blueprint for the UK” to recommend how cross-sector policy change can support the government to achieve its clean power mission and help deliver appropriate risk-adjusted returns for working people's retirement savings.
