Andrea Aellos joined our US office this spring, and we're excited to show her the ropes of the #SportsBroadcast Industry. Welcome aboard! 👋

Last week, we discussed Multilateral Services — the core coverage of an event that broadcasters can use worldwide. 🌍 This week, we're exploring Unilateral Services: the customisations broadcasters can add to make their event coverage unique. This can entail broadcasters sending their own crew, commentators, or anchors to create content that can include exclusive interviews, personalised commentary, or special camera angles. As a host broadcaster, we provide the foundation — and empower broadcasters to make it their own! ✨

Since our founding in 1999, we've been honoured to receive numerous distinctions to mark our work in the sports broadcast industry. We're proud to have been recognised by institutions like International Broadcasting Convention, Sports Video Group, the Emmy Awards Foundation, and Sportel. And this is just the beginning — we’re excited to see what the future holds! #GetToKnowHBS

Armelle CANET has been working with us for many years, first starting as IBC Manager back in 2009. Now she's the Head of Legacy and Broadcast Academy, leading her team and helping HBS train the next generation of sports broadcast professionals 🎥 🎾 🏉 ⚽

Today's #BroadcastBasics is focused on Multilateral Services (as opposed to unilateral). As a host broadcaster, these are the cornerstone of our offering. In simple terms, this entails producing the coverage of an event with a standard set of cameras, commentary, and graphics that can be used by any broadcaster. Then, we give broadcasters options as to how much they'd like to customise their coverage. These customisations may include unilateral services - which we'll talk about next week!

We're so grateful we get to share our legacy through our Broadcast Academy, which offers comprehensive training for sports broadcast professionals. Since 2007, the Broadcast Academy has trained over 3,000 professionals across five continents and 20 countries. Our mission goes beyond teaching technical skills; we aim to pass down decades of best practices, fostering a new generation of broadcasters who can continue to elevate the industry. #GetToKnowHBS

We welcomed Roberto da Conceição Junior to our US office back in May, and we're happy to have him on our team 🤝 With over 20 years in the broadcast industry including working on multiple world-class events, his global perspective and hands-on experience will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and grow!

Although some sports commentators have the opportunity to work from commentary positions located in the stadium where the action is taking place, others are sometimes operating from another location remotely; this setup is called Off-Tube Commentary 💬 #HBSBasics

At every event HBS works on, our team members wear a uniform to make them clearly identifiable to organisers and rights holders. We take special care to ensure each uniform reflects the event's brand, while still retaining a recognisable HBS element- the colour blue, which is used for most of our kits! If you've ever been a part of our "Smurf army" (the nickname some have given us), please share a picture in your favourite uniform below 👕 #GetToKnowHBS
