Tomorrow, Sangram Ashok Savant, PhD, Project Manager at ecoinvent, will join experts at the SWEET-SURE - Sustainable and Resilient Energy for Switzerland 2nd Indicator Workshop in Zürich. This pivotal gathering, part of the SURE project under the Swiss Federal Office of Energy’s SWEET program, will focus on refining strategies for a sustainable, resilient Swiss energy sector by 2050.   The SURE project is developing an advanced framework to analyze scenarios for Switzerland’s energy future, balancing sustainability with resilience. In addition to charting long-term pathways toward deep decarbonization, the project explores “shock scenarios”—potential disruptive events that could challenge the system’s stability.   Building on insights from the 1st Indicator Workshop, this second session will delve deeper into evaluating the sustainability and resilience indicators, ensuring Switzerland’s energy transition can withstand future uncertainties. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being a guest speaker at the Digital Sustainability Knowledge Circle hosted by Implement Consulting Group. This insightful quarterly meeting brings together sustainability professionals to explore emerging themes in their field and share best practices. Here’s a summary of the topics we covered.   🗃️ Smart management of data remains the biggest challenge but also the most promising opportunity for ramping up sustainability efforts cross-functionally.   💡At my speaker session, I shared insights on how ecoinvent’s enterprise clients champion sustainability through building robust internal data frameworks. These centralized environmental data repositories not only ensure consistent reporting across the organization but also help unlock environmental data for various functions beyond the sustainability team.   📊 Maria Vittoria Onori from Implement Consulting shared a compelling client case where a customer has integrated sustainability metrics into their sales and operations planning (S&OP). By implementing environmental data into their business processes, sustainability factors could be treated on par with financial considerations.   Thank you for the invitation to the event, Mike Weisbjerg. Wrapping up a great week at the SETAC Europe 26th LCA Symposium! #climateweeknyc came and went, and although the blog post took a bit longer than planned, the urgency coming out of the week has not faded: https://lnkd.in/e9-RJmcb The catch phrase this year was “It’s Time”. In reality however, we are running out of time. This was echoed throughout the week and particularly during the biodiversity sessions where the impact of human activity upon nature is having a compounding climate impact. Climate Week is also a great place to connect with partners and friends and to join in the discussions (thanks Altana, Climate TRACE, and Epoch) and workshops (thanks PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency)). Additionally, I met with several key partners, including Watershed, Persefoni, S&P Global, SAP, and the GHG Protocol, to explore new opportunities for collaboration. It was also great to catch up with former colleagues from Siemens (Sahil D. looking at you). And on a personal note, I’m proud to say I completed a lap around Central Park faster than last year. Not too bad for an old guy! One final reflection: In every room I walked into during Climate Week, at least one person knew about ecoinvent. After two and a half years in this role, it still amazes me to see how far-reaching our database has become. To think that a dedicated team based in Zürich is producing a resource that is so critical to organizations worldwide fills me with immense pride.
