I recently spent some quality time with the drone team from the Pfullendorf fire department. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to fly but we were able to discuss how they are using DroneControl First Responder during real world missions. Pfullendorf is very proud to have been one of the very first departments in Germany to use drones in emergency services and also one of our first customers in Germany. The team was exited to hear about the newest features in First Responder and gave great feedback for our technical roadmap. 8400km? Is this a new DroneControl record?!?!   Last week Dominik Rossa of the Water Search and Rescue Service of the Opole Province, Poland was in Hanoi, Vietnam and wanted to test DroneControl with our Polish partner Gerard Szustek From Walbrzych, Poland to Hanoi, Vietnam (8400km) there was next to zero latency and a full HD stream, allowing perfect situational awareness even from the other side of the planet!   We are looking forward to seeing Dominik further put DroneControl to use with the team once back in Poland. #drones #dronesforgood #firstresponders #DJIenterprise

Our integration with what3words and Mapbox just keeps on improving! In our most recent release we were excited to not only implemented pin drop within our flight control application; but also to integrate fully the pin's what3words and postal address position - for instant geolocation identification. This significantly streamlines incident response allowing a much quicker communication of critical locations to other first responders. This new feature is in addition to our existing integration with the drone's location and laser range finder - visible to the pilot and any remote viewers via our secure live stream! Working as part of a fantastic team at DroneControl means I get to work with the best in the field. The software is progressing so much and more and more capability is being added each month. Check out version 1.7 with the addition of pin drop and the ability to add an address and what three words into the map. We were testing this all last week and it works extremely well. I spent a fun couple of days in Germany last week with Jeff Stone at a training event held by Bad Saulgau Feuerwehr. The training consisted of 3 drone teams and 60 firefighters from local fire stations conducting a search for 6 "missing" kids within a 5km2 area. The drone teams were using DroneControl FirstResponder to help locate the kids and all were found within 1.5 hours! It was cool to see how our tech is used in a real world scenario, outside of our testing and QA environments. I've come back with a greater sense and understanding of the next features to be developed as well as where current features can be built upon to make an even better product for our first responders. Getting your tech team out to events like this, where they can interact with clients and see how the software they help build is really used in the hands of end users is really useful when it comes to future planning and development of features, it keeps our end users in the forefront of our minds when anything new is being built. We should always be asking ourselves, "Does this feature really help our first responders?", "Is this feature easy to use in a real world scenario, or can I make it even better?" Our end goal should always be to develop software that makes First Responders job's easier and safer!
