Earlier this summer, I defended my PhD dissertation at Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, where I used Concept Mapping to understand cervical screening amongst South Asian women. This highly participant-driven method brought together South Asian service users and service providers to understand how the lives and experiences of South Asian women impact cervical screening, and to identify areas of impactful action. I was incredibly fortunate to do this work under the expert supervision of Aisha Lofters (supervisor) Pat Ocampo (co-supervisor) and Jackie Bender (committee member), and to also have Ann Burchell, Sara JT Guilcher and Karen McDonnell participate in the examination. Vijayshree Prakash provided support and expertise to this work, as well. Today, I would like to share two important reports that have come out of this work so far: 1. A community report that summarizes the step-by-step series of Concept Mapping activities, the results that came out of it, and key recommendations for improving rates of cervical screening in Ontario. Below is an excerpt and the full report can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/gWjCie9a 2. A publication in a special issue of Current Oncology MDPI that is focused on Action and Impact: Prevention and Screening Strategies Contributing to the Elimination of Cervical Cancer. I am pleased to share our last research article, realized with Università degli Studi di Padova - Istituto di Radiologia, and published today in the journal Current Oncology MDPI. The topic was the development of a predictive model based on radiomic features, with a Machine Learning algorithm, aimed at recognizing adrenal incidentalomas that are at risk of presenting subclinical cortisol hormone secretion, which is linked to increased cardiovascular risk.
