𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙖 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬𝙨 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙍𝙤𝙖𝙙𝙢𝙖𝙥 Today, we launched a participatory process to analyse and refine our Roadmap 2030, aligning it with the evolving context. Following the internal midline assessment of the Roadmap’s objectives, we hosted a Strategy Workshop at WWF Switzerland in Zurich. This workshop also strengthened the Cocoa Platform’s Impact Vision: The Chairman and members of the Board reviewed current progress and identified the key issues to address in the coming months. Several Board Members who were present spoke positively about the workshop's outcomes. Christoph Oberlack from the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE), University of Bern commented: “I believe that the revision of the Roadmap will enable us to strengthen the Cocoa Platform’s sustainability claims. It can also help us adapt the Platform’s strategy to new contexts, such as high cocoa prices and forthcoming regulations.” 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙜𝙤 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚? In February, we will conduct a member survey with the CDE to gather further insights. This survey will complement SECO Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung’s mid-term evaluation of the Swiss government’s support for the Cocoa Platform. 🌍 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘱𝘩 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘢!🤝 We are excited to introduce Joseph Bandanaa (Ph.D.), our Ghana Country Lead, at the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa. 🍫 As Country Lead, Joseph will play an important role in advancing the priorities outlined in the joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ghana, represented by the Ghana Cocoa Board-COCOBOD, and Switzerland, represented by the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa. These priorities include evaluating the welfare of cocoa farmers through the Cocoa Household Income Study, promoting cutting-edge technologies such as SwissDeCode’s solution for detecting asymptomatic Cocoa Swollen Shoot Disease Virus (CSSVD), resilient cocoa agroforestry and spearheading systemic approaches to address the interconnected challenges of child labour, poverty, education, youth skill development, and employability in Ghana through strengthened public-private collaboration. Joseph brings a unique blend of expertise. He understands the needs of cocoa-producing countries while building bridges to Switzerland, having studied as a visiting PhD scholar at the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) on cocoa farming systems sustainability. As an academic researcher, his research and work on cocoa are related to cocoa farmers' livelihoods, farming systems and sustainability. His experience and dedication will be invaluable in advancing our mission for a sustainable cocoa sector.
