📌Transforming lives through provision of hearing aids in #Rwanda - Day 2 According to UNICEF Rwanda, “hearing is one of our bridges to the world, connecting us to voices, music, laughter to enjoy life, and the education we need to access opportunities. However, hearing impairment so easily disrupts that connection, delaying development and/or dampening many children’s dreams and aspirations. “ 🦻 ATscale is on a mission to bridge this gap as we support UNICEF, working with the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC), and partners like The Umbrella of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the fight against HIV AIDS and for Health Promotion (UPHLS) to reach more children with hearing impairments. 📚 Read the interesting stories of Murava and Belyse whose lives were transformed thanks to the “Winsiga Ndumva” - “Don’t leave me behind, I can hear” programme we introduced in 2023 in Rwanda. 📢 Murava, a 19 years old young man, and Belyse, 12, both faced a hard time because of their hearing impairment, not just at school and with neighborhood friends, but with their own family too. Thanks to the programme they received digital hearing aids programmed to suit his hearing level, free of charge. 🌐Link to full article: https://ow.ly/kat950TUrOf 🎉Let’s unlock the everyday for everyone, everywhere! #UnlockTheEveryday

📌Transforming lives through provision of hearing aids in #Rwanda During #UNGA79, our joint side event for #SummitOfTheFuture Action Days set out to answer a crucial topic: how multi-stakeholder partnerships in #Education and #AssistiveTechnology transforms education and employment opportunities for children and young people with disabilities 🦽👓🦻🦿📱 During his open remarks, Ernest RWAMUCYO, Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the #UnitedNations recognized the crucial role of ATscale and UNICEF Rwanda in implementing #Vision and #Hearing screening programmes. “In Rwanda, we have seen firsthand the impact of such collaboration. By the end of the Winsiga Ndumva - Don’t leave me behind, I can hear- programme, we will have screened children, with over 1,200 receiving digital hearing aids. These children, once isolated by their impairments, will now have the tools to communicate, succeed academically and contribute to society. " "Additionally, another programme has been initiated to scale up #Eye and #Vision screening, and provision of #Eyeglasses to school-aged children in nine districts across Rwanda. The programme aims for vision screening for 26,644 school-aged children to detect vision problems and 5,900 children with vision impairment will be provided with essential Assistive Technology. #Rwanda stands ready to continue collaborating with multi-stakeholder partners to scale up efforts and ensure that every child is given the opportunity to succeed.” 📚 Take a moment to read about this EHC programme: https://ow.ly/lYwp50TUqbi 🎉Let’s unlock the everyday for everyone, everywhere! #UnlockTheEveryday

📌Transforming lives through provision of hearing aids in #Rwanda 🔶 As we campaign to focus the world’s attention on the importance of #AssistiveTechnology to transform people’s lives, we are taking a few days to focus on ATscale support to #Rwanda. 🔶 Follow us for three days of human interest stories, facts and stats! ATscale supports UNICEF and the government of Rwanda working with the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Biomedical Center, and partners like The Umbrella of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the fight against HIV AIDS and for Health Promotion UPHLS to reach more children with hearing impairments. Following its launch in December 2023, the three-year Winsiga Ndumva programme identifies, tests, and screens children from 0-18 years old, intervening to prevent severe, preventable hearing loss. Approximately 1,200 or more will receive hearing aids in the frame of the programme. A full integration of the programme into the national healthcare system equips primary healthcare workers with the skills and equipment necessary to identify ear and hearing conditions and offer appropriate and timely care. 👉 Watch the short film and meet Nathaniel Bizumuremyi, beneficiary from #Rwanda highlighting how “Disability is not inability” indeed, Nathaniel says: “When I received my hearing aids, I improved academically and became a top student.” 📚Read more on ATscale: https://ow.ly/jxgO50TUne1 We would like to do even more so that people with hearing impairments can access the care and services they need to participate fully in society! 🦽👓🦻🦿📱 🎉Let’s unlock the everyday for everyone, everywhere! #UnlockTheEveryday

Today is International Prosthetics & Orthotics Day 🦾🦿 #IPODay2024 Did you know❓ 👉 Globally, an estimated 1.5 million people undergo amputations every year and need to access prosthetic services. However, despite evidence that using a prosthesis can significantly improve quality of life and reduce mortality for amputees, World Health Organization estimates that only 5-15% of amputees who need prosthetic devices in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have access, and this need is growing. 🔸ATscale developed strategic objectives to support affordable, high quality and appropriate access to prosthetics services and products in LMICs Learn more by reading the ATscale report 📑Product Narrative: Prostheses, developed by Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc., under Global Disability Innovation Hub #AT2030 Accessible and translated versions are available on our website! 🌐https://lnkd.in/egbj9YgQ 🙌Let’s work together to ensure everyone, everywhere has access to the #ProstheticsAndOrthotics they need! #UnlockTheEveryday #IPODay2024 #ProstheticsAndOrthotics #TeamworkInHealthcare #PersonnelMatters #EmpoweringLives
