🚣𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀. No matter how busy work is, it’s essential to wind down. We all have our kicks – how do you forget about work and relax? For 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗺𝗿𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗴𝗹𝘂, rowing is more than just a hobby. It’s an intense physical and mental battle coupled with the beauty of being on the water. He started 𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 in high school in Turkey and continued in Delft, where he joined two rowing clubs. 💯Rowing is a sport that demands 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. If the crew doesn’t stick to the plan, you won’t move an inch. Emre trains eight to 10 times a week, eight months a year. He participates in long distance races in winter and side-by-side races over two-kilometre straight in spring. He has faced challenges such as injuries and racing alone in a single scull, but he has also enjoyed memorable experiences such as setting a world record in a ten-person boat. Emre says that rowing has taught him many valuable skills that he applies to his work as a structural engineer. He says: “Rowing is a very analytical sport. You have to 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆. You also have to communicate well with your teammates and coach, and be flexible and adaptable to different situations. These are all skills that I use in my engineering projects.” Emre also appreciates the social aspect of rowing. He says: “I have met many amazing people through rowing. Some of them are my best friends. We support each other, have fun together, and share our passion for the sport. Rowing is a great way to 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 from different backgrounds and cultures.” Emre has a lot on his bucket list, from the Dutch national championships to the Olympic Games. He says: “It’s about having a common goal and not giving up, even if you feel your lungs burning and your muscles hurting. Rowing is my passion and my escape from work. It gives me 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to face new challenges every day.” 👉Do you have sporty mindset? Or do you just like to unwind and have fun with colleagues? 🖥️𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Many major companies face a constant threat of cyberattacks from different sources and motives. To counter this threat, Allseas established a 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, which protects the company from outside intrusions and ensures compliance with security standards and regulations. The team comprises five specialists with different areas of expertise, such as identity and access management, security awareness, security operations, and security monitoring. 🚧The team's main tasks include acting as 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 of Allseas' digital landscape, analysing and mitigating security incidents, developing and configuring security tools and automating technical processes. They also provide security advice and guidance to other teams and departments, and collaborate with external partners and vendors. 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 is a complex and evolving industry, with hacktivists, ransomware and state actors posing potential risks for many projects. For example, when working in regions prone to geopolitical tensions and conflicts, the team takes additional efforts to monitor and prevent cyberattacks. 🔍This year, the team is focused on building a 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 at Allseas. They launched a security programme that includes training, phishing tests and learning materials for all employees. The goal is to raise awareness and knowledge about cybersecurity, and to foster a behaviour change that makes security a priority and a responsibility for everyone. 🏆The team enjoys learning new skills and staying updated on the latest trends and technologies. They also take pride in creating a visible impact on Allseas' cybersecurity, and in contributing to the company's success and reputation. They work collaboratively and follow a structured way of working, using agile methodologies and best practices.
